Belleville’s rental costs aren’t too outrageous--students will end up paying anywhere from three to five hundred per month, depending on how patient they are and if they have roommates or not. For the sake of convenience and simplicity, most students won’t bother looking outside of Belleville’s borders. But if they do, I would suggest apartment searching in East St. Louis. You’ll be much closer to the city, and the apartment prices are much cheaper. As for commuting, the Metrolink train can transport you between the two locations for a reasonable price. Even though its campus is in Illinois, SIC’s Belleville location is considered part of the St. Louis suburban region. In fact, the city’s popular Metrolink rail system extends to Belleville and has a station on the SIC campus’s eastern edge. The train can take students to the city, or to the airport if they’re going home to another state after their semester or to somewhere warm during winter or spring break. But students will probably ride the train far more often than that if they live outside of Belleville. But if these out-of-towners have cars they will be more acquainted with Interstate 64, which is just three miles from campus.
