MICA shares real estate with the University of Baltimore, which makes it a convenient location for public transportation. It’s steps away from Penn Station, which is where you can catch trains like Amtrak, and the Mount Royal light rail station. These are also two hubs for bus service, which can be both intercity or throughout the greater Baltimore area. If you’re commuting from an apartment in the city, there are so many ways you can get back and forth. I wouldn’t recommend driving; battling traffic and figuring out parking on campus can be difficult tasks. Since public transportation is so easy, why wouldn’t you use it to commute? Baltimore’s nightlife is best symbolized by the restaurants, shopping, and clubs near the harbor and downtown. But that’s all over a mile away from MICA, and even though many students will make the trip down there, many more will want to stay close to school. This is especially true if they’re drinking and want to be able to get home quickly and safely. Midtown, which is the neighborhood MICA calls home, has many clubs, bars, lounges, restaurants, and the rest. Adding in student parties near campus, there’s a lot students can do at night without having to travel far.

Methodology

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
