Major universities and colleges in the area don’t always have the most diversity in their learning environments. But at Cabrillo it seems like all ages, races, and lifestyles are represented. Of course, there are the typical young hipster groups you see all over Santa Cruz, and the older adults who imitate them. But there are also artistic types, jocks, hicks, and an eclectic mix of other interesting people who don’t necessarily fit a label. Caucasians are the majority, but just from walking around campus you’ll see that there are plenty of other races and ethnic groups here. One of Cabrillo’s perks that puts it ahead of other Cali community colleges is its access to Santa Cruz. There aren’t many better places for young people to live than there, with all the hipster culture, parties, beaches and just overall location on the water. The nightlife is about as varied as you can ask for. Want to see an author speak at a local book store? Sure. Want to have a bonfire at the beach, and then walk the boardwalk? You can do that. And if you feel like dancing at a club or party, there are plenty of places where that can be arranged. There aren’t a lot of activities on campus, but Santa Cruz is a whole different story.

Each month, using over 1 million Rentable listings across the United States, we calculate the median 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom rent prices by city, state, and nation, and track the month-over-month percent change. To avoid small sample sizes, we restrict the analysis for our reports to cities meeting minimum population and property count thresholds.
