This place has the potential to be great but they dont even follow their own rules. Ive had to park far away from my apartment on multiple occasions because the lot is overcrowded with over extended guests that stay longer than a week. People with no parking permits whatsoever. In most apartments they would have been towed or ticketed by now but its so laxadaisy here. Also good luck trying to get ahold of the office unless you owe them money nothing is ever of immediate concern.

*I have lived in a studio apartment at Springs at Apple Valley for nearly three months now. This is my mid-lease review.* The Springs at Apple Valley is a unique and enjoyable apartment/townhome complex. When you enter the gates of the complex, you feel like you are in a nice, quiet residential area far removed from the busyness and noise of the city, when in reality you are less than a block away from pretty much any store or shop that you could need, and only 15 minutes away from the Mall of America, MSP airport, Twin Cities Premium Outlets, among others. The units themselves are overall very nice. Most of the 13 buildings were built within the last few years, so they still feel new. My unit has all hardwood floor (not genuine wood, but a durable alternative), and is in great shape. The studios are organized very well, and are one of the few studios that has a separate bedroom area, along with a washer and a dryer in the unit. In terms of noise, I have virtually never heard my neighbors, nor have I ever heard complaints from those around me. This leads me to believe that the insulation and sound-proofing is pretty good, except for two things; the studios are situated above garages so occasionally hear the sound of the garage opening (which is quieter than the sound of a phone vibrating), and occasionally hear the neighbors dog barking (but only when the apartment is completely quiet). The main reason I made this review 4-stars is for a few reasons. There are somethings in the apartment where it seemed they cut some corners, such as cabinet doors opening in awkward directions, or some of the trim looking like it was hastily done. Also, the unit seems to use an absurd amount of electricity (about $60/month for a studio vs $40/month in my old three bedroom), which I think might be tied to how the heating is run, but its not a huge problem. Also, they call the apartment complex gated, but the front gate stays open so long after it gets opened. If they simply turned the timer down, then I wouldnt have any complaints about this. I think that the rent is fair considering all the alternatives in the area, and all the amenities from not only the apartment complex (such as door-to-door garbage collection, a pool, workout facility, multiple dog parks, and a car washing station) to all the stores and things to do in the area. The office staff is also friendly and maintenance requests have been quick so far. Its been an enjoyable experience so far, and I look forward to rest of my lease.

We had a horrible experience here. My husband and I had toured a one bedroom unit and decided that we would put a deposit down on it. Literally, the next day, we decided to go with a different apartment complex just down the road from Springs at Apple Valley. I called the office to let them know that we would like to withdraw our application, and receive back the deposit and application processing fees (since our applications did not go through yet), to which they had agreed. I confirmed our mailing address to where they should be sending the refund, and waited about 6 weeks with no response or refund. I called the office SEVERAL times on various days with no answer. They were extremely unresponsive until my husband explained that we would be performing a charge back for the money due back to us, to which they responded and left a voice message explaining that they will have the check cut and mailed the next business day. I THOUGHT this was taken care of 6 weeks ago. After another week and a half or so passed with still nothing, we decided to go ahead and submit the charge back. When I went to visit my parents the following week, we found that the check was mailed to my parents home address and NOT my current address like we had discussed and what was on our application as our CURRENT ADDRESS. We then called my bank and cancelled the charge back, to which the bank confirmed was cancelled. Another couple months pass and we notice that our credit scores plummeted. So I pulled my credit report and saw that we had an account in collections, submitted by Springs at AV. My bank had performed the charge back for the full amount of the payment, instead of just the fees for deposit and processing, despite me cancelling it. However, instead of declining the charge back, Springs accepted it, and CONTINUOUSLY sent correspondence to collect funds for the applications, to an address that I DID NOT LIVE AT. We went in to meet with the property manager at Springs to get to the bottom of things. The property manager claimed that they called and emailed us as well, regarding the collections account. We have NO RECORD of any calls or emails, and my husband and I check our emails DAILY. Even our spam folders. We had asked for copies of the emails sent to us, to which the property manager said she would have forwarded to us the next day. We NEVER heard from her again. Since then, my husband and I have resolved things with the collections account, but WHAT A NIGHTMARE Springs at AV is. Even though all of this was so horrendous, I am beyond grateful that we did not live here. I can't imagine all the horrors if we did go through with the application. They utilize shady business practices and are dishonest. Please consider renting somewhere else before you settle here. Based on SEVERAL other reviews, it is CLEAR that I am not the only one who has experienced their horrifying customer service.

Nice staff, but way over priced and not a place for children !! I moved in temporarily with 3 children and I never wanted to bring them outside to play because of all the dog mess everywhere. There is absolutely no where for children to play safely away from dog mess. -but they have two dog parks and still neighbors would chose to walk their dog and let them mess in front of our door. I feel they should have emphasized their love for dogs over children when they showed us the apartment. We had 1 nice, friendly neighbor but other renters were rude and inconsiderate. And .... Im still waiting for a rent deposit to be returned after a month. They want their money up front fast but expect to wait for your own money to be returned to you! I would NOT recommend this complex for a family with children!!!!!
