Beware when you go to move out. They charge you for everything they can! I cleaned my apartment spotless before moving out yet I was charged almost $400 with petty fees such as $15 for a dirty sink, $15 to vacuum, $30 to clean the shower ect. In the end my grand total was about $400 just to reclean what I had already cleaned myself. I was promised that when hanging pictures on walls any holes or paint chips will not be charged as a damage unless it was a large hole (like someone punching a wall) Yet I was charged $25 dollars per wall and then an additional $75 to paint that same wall. When I went into the leasing office and nicely asked for a manager I was told NO! They said there were too many people coming in to complain about the same issue and that I should send an email instead. It’s a shame they are abusing the funds of college students. PLEASE consider any apartment other than University Edge at Akron. SAVE YOUR MONEY!

The apartments are nice, but you can hear everything and are too overpriced. The staff are incomptent. The only person who I enjoyed working with to try to find a sublease, which is impossible btw, was Stacy and she is the manager. I have never been so frustrated with employees. I was trying to find a sublease and everyone would tell me something differently and just were never helpful. They could careless if you find a sublease and do not help you. I would suggest to not move here.
Oh also, I moved out in December and I left before the office was open. I had left my keys are the kitchen counter for them to go check out my room. After 6 months of paying for an empty room I finally was able to have a sublease, for the last month. They could not find the key to my room. No they didnt charge me for another key, but I couldnt believe they had lost it! It has been 7 months!

Close to campus and nice rooms. But electric overages are ridiculous... I was paying 20+ dollars a month in electric overages during the summer and only 1 person was living in the apartment. Over winter break when no one lived there I paid almost 40 dollars for that month.
Theres no explanation for the electric overages either. One of my roommates had all included and I was told I had to pay part of their portion of the overages since they didnt have overages, which makes no since because Im not the only one using electricity.

I have lived here for about a year, there's pros and cons about living here. Biggest con is that they do not provide any parking for you. They have a garage but you can only park in it for 2 hours or they put a huge sticker on your window that is very hard to get off. There is parking around the building but you pay by the hour. There is a little parking lot behind the building but if you park there they will put a "barnacle" on your front wind shield and it costs 100 dollars to get it off. I pay per semester to park in the student parking garage across the street. The parking pass costs extra to keep it in the garage over night. Walking from the Edge to the parking garage is a annoying walk especially in the rain or snow.
Another con is the bedrooms do not have lights in them. I was very surprised to walk into my room and realize that the bedrooms did not have lights on the ceiling. Even with two lamps in my room it is still very dim in my bedroom at night.
Another con is that the WIFI is constantly going down! It is especially annoying when you have online work to turn in!
Another con is that they provide a printer but it is always either not working or out of paper.
Another con is that the walls a literally one sheet of drywall thin so you hear everything.
Another con is that the rent is over 700 dollars a month! I pay 735 a month to live without a bedroom light, no parking and horrible WIFI.

Another con is that the cable only has like 20 good channels and the WIFI is hard to get on to and if you have guests over it is so annoying to get them on to the WIFI.

some pros are that this place has a awesome maintenance team, every time I put in a maintenance request they were in my room to fix it that day or the next day. Another pro is that they have a decent gym, coffee bar and tanning beds. Marble counter tops in bathrooms and kitchen, decent furniture. Also this place is really close to campus and some good restaurants and amazon pick up are connected to the building.
I would not recommend living here. The depot is the same price but has parking and a pool and a better gym. Same with 401 lofts. Only difference is that they are a bit farther away from campus.
It's right next to the University, and the apartments are much nicer than The Depot.

This place is filled with problems from mold growing everywhere all the time to broken internet to rude staff. Also, it is just way too overpriced for one person. $700 per person is enough for a bigger one person apartment/townhouse.

Horrible experience! DO NOT LIVE HERE! First of all, University Edge is way too expensive for what you are getting out of it. They claim it is a good deal at $700 for a 4 bedroom apartment, but don't forget that 4 people are paying that. This means the apartments actually costs $2800 total! Do you know what you could actually get with that kind of money?! Secondly, the management here is very rude, uneducated it seems, and they are horrible at dealing with situations like real adults. Thirdly, the internet here hardly ever works, and the only time it does work is when your device is plugged into the wall.

*takes deep breath* Let me tell you a story about the absolute worst apartment available in the Akron area. I personally have lived at 22 and my brother lived at 401 so I know first hand how much better the other apartments are in the area. The only good thing about Edge is how close they are to campus. Now that the good is out of the way let me tell you about all the bad. First of all maintenance is incompetent, for the past two years there has been mold in our dishwasher. We put in a work order more than once and they first blamed us for not running it enough (we ran it at least twice a week) and then they just cleaned out the mold. The problem is obviously that the machine doesn't DRY THE DISHES. Secondly, the other apartments at Akron all come with a TV while edge... does not. The others also come with normal cable while edge.... WiFi live tv that buffers every 30 seconds (great choice you cheap idiots). Keep in mind we also were without cable for over 2 months and were never reimbursed. Fourth, Edge is the most expensive place to live out of all the options at Akron, just so you all know. The last negative thing I'll say about edge is that at least 4 times I handed in my rent to the office and they lost it. Thank the heavens I know how stupid they are and made a point to get a receipt. To sum my rant up, DO NOT LIVE AT EDGE they're so bad the staff has to make positive reviews to make this place try to look good. The ranking system is unfair because they don't offer a 0 star option. I CAN NOT wait till my lease is up and I move out.

The staff are unprofessional and do not seem to have any expertise, probably because they are undergrad students who most likely do not have enough experience in this field. I believe there are three older managers who are the most ideal to speak to, but they are almost never there. The only people you can speak to are the ones who cannot give clear and helpful information. One of our biggest concerns about living at University Edge is the unexplained electrical overages that seem to fluctuate every month. We paid more for the winter break month when all four roommates were gone and the heat was turned down to 57 F than we do when all of us are living here. When these concerns are brought up to "management," they never provide a logical explanation to residents and instead claim they have no control over this situation. This is understandable, but if you are trying to run an apartment complex and you are charging tenants for overages, there needs to be some way the resident can be informed and keep track of what causes the overages. They say to call the electrical company ourselves, but the company staff are also rude and do not disclose anything. The management of an apartment complex has a responsibility to be a liaison between tenant and the company they hire for utilities. It should not be the tenant's job to investigate why they are paying as much as they are because the office downstairs should have the information readily available for them. Honestly and truly, the office is just a glorified mailbox where you can pick up your packages and drop off your rent. The only reason the rating is so high is because they bribe their residents to give a good review of the complex, and in turn residents have a chance of winning various prizes. Don't waste your money, or at least know what your money is going towards.

Had to pay $100 to get a barnacle off my car at 8:00AM without warning when I parked in the wrong spot and when I tried getting help I was told that they didnt know where I should park. When talking to the manager she was very rude and told me it depends on the day if they want to give warnings or not while also claiming they had given previous warnings but did not have a single record of this.

And I love that I don't have to pay for cable or wifi because it is all included in the rent. That and electric and water! I'm definitely renewing my lease.

I have lived here at University Edge for 2 years now, and have had a great experience here. I have even already renewed to live here for a third year. The workers here are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and it is very nice to have a large living space and kitchen as well to share with your roommates. University Edge is definitely the best place to live as a college student.

i couldn't be happier to live in edge for the second year. the office goes out of their way to make sure residents are comfortable, whenever i have a maintenance request it's usually solved within a day or two. the 24/7 gym is so convenient as well as the study lounges that are good escape from your distracting roommates when you're trying to study! 10/10 highly recommend

My last apartment was 345 Flats in Kent, roughly $900 a month for a 2 bedroom and the dining/living area was small. This is a much bigger living/dining area with a better weight room. Tanning, courtyard and grills are pluses. Food places are below, campus is right across from us, and I love the free stuff you get from edge. Highly recommend

This place has ups and downs. I locked myself out of my bedroom early in the morning this morning. I called university edge thinking I would get an option to call maintenance on call for a lock out. I was directed to an answering service. I explained that I was locked out of my room and they said they would forward my request to maintenance. I waited about 45 minutes (mind you I was late to work at this point, my car keys and everything were in my room. I know it was my fault that I locked myself out but still). I called back asking if they had a time frame for when maintenance would come. The guy was rude and said no he didn't know. So at this point I took my boyfriends car to work and got home from work. I called the leasing office before I got to the apartment and asked if my room was unlocked yet. JP (the leasing manager) went up to my room and unlocked it for me. Moral of the story THE ANSWERING SERVICE DIDNT FORWARD MY CALL TO MAINTENANCE. How unprofessional. Good thing I didn't sit there and wait for maintenance to come. Go back to the old option of calling the on-call maintenance person.

University Edge screwed me and my roommates over and I haven't even begun living there yet. I signed back in October because I was "guaranteed" to get the lowest price. My price when I signed was $675 a month and then they were going to give my roommates and I each $600 which would lower the monthly rate to about $625 but this was before the all-inclusive electric so we were going to have to pay for our electricity as well. We got an email saying that they were going to switch to all inclusive electricity and that if we had previously signed prior to that, that we are more than welcome to switch over to that. My roommates and I decided that switching to all-inclusive would just be the easier and better option so we went in and signed a form to switch to all-inclusive. When we were signing, they told us that they were going to be taking away our $600 dollars from when we signed because that would pretty much take care of our electricity costs, which we understood and didn't question it. We didn't start questioning it until they started give away $1000 with the all-inclusive, and currently they are still giving away $1000 to people who sign AND an Amazon Echo. If you sign here DO NOT SIGN EARLY because I can promise you that you are not "guaranteed" the lowest rate.

I couldn't be happier to move out! Everything looks nice but it was built cheap. Walls are so thin you can hear your roommate simply talking on the phone through the wall. Black mold grew on my windows in the winter as well as had constant black mold coming out of my sink. Management will insure you they will help with issues but they are very little help. Was charged $20 over almost every month and air/heat was rarely on in our apartment. We were over charged almost $30 for the month of winter break when only one person lived there. This year was a huge waste if money, I highly advise finding a house!

Then they always said everyone went over. That was called "net metering" and technically was illegal... It is definitely illegal now. They just started running ads "You talked, we listened, ELECTRIC INCLUDED!" Bullsh*t! Only because the law caught up with your greed.

This place has it's ups and downs... it is way overpriced and has overages on electricity every month, ours are usually about $25 a month. The hallways constantly smell like weed and are trashed, there have been multiple times that there have been holes punched into the walls in the hallway. You can hear people outside and in the hallways as if they were in your bedroom. Any noise in the common area can be heard in all of the rooms which is annoying when you are trying to take a nap. The fire alarms go off at 3 am and sounds like it is signaling world war 3... we don't even go outside for the fire alarms we just sit in the living room with the doors closed to mute the sound. The security that is promised is not guaranteed, the access cards help to keep the homeless people out of the building, but if you are around 20 something it is easy to get in the building without an access card which is kind of concerning. The place does have its perks though...The gym is nice, you get your own bathroom and bedroom which is better than the dorms. The building is close to campus which is nice and the maintenance staff is super efficient and friendly. I have personally not had any problem with the staff in the main office and they have always been really kind and helpful to me especially if I have a problem and are all really friendly and remember the names of the tenants which is really cool because there are a lot of people in the buildings.

Horrible is not a good enough word to describe the management at the University Edge apartments here in Akron. I was supposed to move out and move into new apartment this summer, but they were not at all prepared for me to do this and instead I had to postpone my moving for a whole week. The guys who work in the main office flirt and pay extra attention to "good-looking" tenants (specifically girls), and give you zero respect and major attitude if you are not. I have never felt to inconvenienced, and disrespected in my entire life.
Not only is there complete mismanagement, but they charge you crazy amounts in the winter seasons for going over on heat, electricity, and water. Through half of the winter, the hot water was not even working, and they did absolutely nothing to help fix the issue. The fire alarms make you feel like you are under attack, and at one point they were randomly going off from 1-4am on a Tuesday morning. No one came to fix the issue until it was 2 am, and they did not have a clue as to how to fix it.
The only pro is that they are nice looking apartments, and they within walking distance to the University of Akron campus. I feel sorry for those who have chosen to live here, good luck.
I do not recommend this apartment to anyone, unless you would like to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a 12 month sh_t show.

The only nice things about this place are the granite counter tops and the fact that you live very close to campus. It looks great when you are touring, and the staff will tell you anything to make you happy and get you to sign up. The building is poorly constructed and the amenities are not usually what they seem (free printer is always out of paper, grills are always out of propane, etc.). People throw a lot of parties, so don't plan on sleeping during the weekends. The key card to get in is basically worthless because people who do not live here will wait by the door until someone lets them in. I have lived here for one year, but will not be signing up again. Living in a house a block further from campus is a much better decision. This apartment complex is not worth the high price that you are being charged.
The rooms are nice but very overpriced, the electric bills are insane, and the office workers have no clue about anything
