This is the worst apartment I have lived. At first, they pretended to be nice to you and ask you to give them nice comments in Yelp. But after that everything is bad. If something is broken, they never come to repair it. For example, the microwave is broken in October and I asked them to repair it. At first, they said "Ok" and would send someone to repair it. But in several weeks they never came to repair. Since my lease contract end date is 12/31/2017 and they asked me whether you wanted to extend the lease, and I said "No". Since that, no one came to repair the microwave. After I moved out, they deducted all my deposit including the fee of microwave. I just wanted to said, please do not live there. My lawyer is going to sue them. And the private apartment owner is rude.

We are still in the process of moving in, which is why I only gave them 4 stars... We recently signed a 1 year lease with Alderwood. The community Director, Leslie, is great. She has been with us every step of the way, patiently and professionally answering any and all questions we have. Any issues we found during our initial inspection of the unit (very minor things), have been taken care of. We are excited to enjoy the amenities the community has to offer, and finalize our move into our new apartment in a few weeks.

Alderwood Apartments is a terrible over priced place to live. The owner is a slumlord that will squeeze every cent he can out of you. Our issues started before we moved when we specifically asked if we were allowed to have a BBQ on our balcony. The onsite manager told us she was unsure so we asked her to ask the owner. She came back a few weeks later saying, yes the owner allows BBQs on the balcony. So we paid the holding deposit and thought we were set. A few days after moving in we were asked to remove our grill from the balcony. The owner essentially lied to us about this to lock us into a lease and then refused to let us out of the lease afterwards. 2 days before we moved in they informed us that we needed to add 163rd Ave Investors to our renters insurance as additionally insured for the amount of $300,000. This is a ridiculous amount and was purposefully with held from us until there was nothing we could do and had to eat the extra cost. The utility fees are ridiculous too, $45/month for garbage with no provided recycling and $15/month per person for water. Also, there is a $35/month pet rent fee on top of a $500 pet deposit if you have a pet. All this will easily sky rocket your rent by $100 or more. The worst part is that they dont tell you about any of these fees until you are signing the lease (which they wont let you see until move in day). There is also a $150 month-to-month fee if you decide not to sign another 12-month lease at the end of yours. The apartments themselves are cheaply remodeled and contain a lot of asbestos and mold. My wife and I had a constant sinus infection that went away as soon as we moved out. The windows are single pane meaning that when the garbage truck comes through at 5:30am you will be woken up. Maintenance request are always met with the part is on order and then you will never hear from them again. On moving out the owner will claim fraudulent damages and use your security deposit to remodel the apartment and provide no receipts for the withholdings even though it is required by law. We are currently in a legal battle to get any scrap of our deposit back. Long story short AVOID THIS PLACE.

This place is a rip-off. It's run by a mysterious "163rd Ave Investors" and they don't care at all about the needs of the tenants as long as they keep collecting money. They raise the rent every single year to the point where it's absurd for the location (only lived there 1 year, but talked with neighbors). The lease they make you sign has no opt-out option for the duration of the full year unless you fall deathly ill or join the military. Guessing that's because they've been burned before. Also the price they show you is about $100 less than what you end up paying because of a ~$70 water fee and ~$30 trash fee - doesn't matter if you have six people living there or one. The manager is simply there to collect a paycheck, and changed twice in the one year I lived there. They're so poorly organized (or greedy), that they put a letter on our door telling us our lease was to expire in 2 days (2 months early), and we had to pull out our lease and contest it with them, to which they said, "whoopsies our mistake that's just a generic letter and we forgot to change the dates." When we signed our lease we were shown a nice apartment overlooking the pool and picnic area, then were put in one sandwiched between 2 other buildings 10 yards apart so it felt like living in a fish bowl. Neighborhood is not especially quiet, and the windows are all single pane so they do nothing for sound attenuation. Only half of the washers and dryers work on any given day, but that's "not the responsibility of the leasing office" so they make you call a separate contractor that does the maintenance on them. Mail is contained within the leasing office, which is only open from 9-6, so for anyone with a full time job, simply getting your mail is a massive hassle. Package delivery sucks too, as UPS simply slaps a delivery attempt notice on the exterior gate and leaves. USPS delivers inside of the leasing office, but then you run into the same problem where it's only open during business hours. The buildings are old (70's?), so the plumbing and furnaces are just as old (for about half the units). They use cheap, nice LOOKING materials to do the upgraded "premium" apartments, but they aren't durable at all, and you'll end up paying for it. You can definitely count on them nickel and diming you out of your deposit ($100 "cleaning fee" and seperate $125 "carpet cleaning fee" on "one of the cleanest apartments I've seen on turnover"). One redeeming quality, and the only reason I give them a star at all was that when maintenance HAD to be performed, it was done in a timely fashion. To put it lightly, this place has some things to figure out before they can justify the amount that they're charging to live here.
