It has been nothing but a downhill slope since my time living here (2+ years). My first issue was the nickle and diming. Roughly every other month it seemed like there was a new charge on the account for something which was unnecessary.
For example, they created a valet trash service which we were required to pay for each month, even though there was a trash chute roughly 100 feet from our door (still operational mind you). If you were to use the Valet trash and wished to recycle, you needed to order special bags from Amazon.
In terms of parking, they require you to pay $50 each month for a garage parking space, which isn't unheard of. However, during my time there my car was broken into and had valuables stolen. The garage doors seemed to be broken quite often, either not being able to go up, or able to go down.
The apartments themselves are not bad, coming with everything you need. It is nitpicky, but they stated our internet connection would be fiber, however once the fiber was put in, it would lag many times, choke on major websites (youtube would not load at all), and a lot of times would be downright off.
The Essex Resident Portal is awful. Recurring payments did not work at all. For six months, the recurring payment would charge me randomly as opposed to the payments I requested it to do. The moment it began acting up, I attempted to cancel them. However the site was glitched, making me not able to even cancel it. I took it up with management and they did not correct it until roughly 5 months later. They would not allow payments to be made by checks (for the most part) because they wanted to "go green". However they contradicted themselves by sending a physical letter each month telling how much we needed to pay.
Finally there is the management situation. During our time there, they changed staff roughly 3-5 times. Though the manager currently present is polite, many of the previous management was not. They would downright blame you for things in which you were not responsible for, not take initiative on problems which we faced regarding payments, and would not contact us regarding said situations to keep us updated.
As of right now I cannot recommend this place to live at, as the corporation owning just does not care about its residents. I would suggest looking elsewhere.
