We moved in Friday. So far, not a good experience at all. Our 1st floor apartment smells like mildew/mold/muggy and and cat pee. I can't get the smell out yet. Our apartment was dirty on move in. There are gnats in the apartment and my bathroom wall is covered in hair that has been painted over. The walls have only been spot painted and they are chipping and cracking. There is wax on the wall in the living room that wasnt sanded off, just painted over. The ceiling looks like it could fall through at any moment. My patio outside is absolutely run down.
What you get does not look like what your are shown or the floor plans. The kitchen is nothing like it shows online. At all. I am trying to post a photo, but I cant figure it out. It is supposed to be a long narrow room with counter tops on each side. Ours is a square tiny room with an L shaped counter. There is no counter space and no microwave is built in, but there also isn't anywhere to sit a microwave if you want to be able to prepare food. They advertise on their website refridgerator with ice maker, but there is no ice maker. This all seems petty, but it really isn't when you are paying $675/mo to live somewhere and you expect to get something nice enough to justify that price. I would maybe pay $475 to live here a month with as outdated as it is. I knew there was no washer and dryer and I was going to make due, but I am so frusturated and disappointed by the vast difference in what is advertised and what you actually get for the price.
The only nice thing about this place so far is our leasing agent, Heather, she has been very kind.
It is now later at night the same day as my original review. The more I unpack, the more upset I get. I just realized that in this 2 bedroom $675/mo apartment there is only one drawer in the entire kitchen. I had to put a bookshelve in there just to have a place to store my food. I am so upset over the price for what I am getting. If I were paying $200 less per month I would probably be ok with the lack of quality of anything here.
I am so sad I didn't get to see this place before signing the lease, but we needed my mom to get the keys during the day so we could move in from out of state after hours. They didn't tell us we had the option of seeing our actual unit before signing the lease. They said we had to get there before they closed, or sign by email so they could give my mom keys if we wanted to move in that night (which was our only option because we had no where to go and our uhaul was due back the next morning. This is such a disappointing rental experience for me.
Update 3/24/2017
We have been here 3 months. The one year lease cant end soon enough. There is still hair painted into my bathroom walls and door.
If you like hearing everything your neighbors do, you will love living here. I heard my upstairs neighbors phone ring last week, I heard him pick it up and I heard him say hello. Clear as day. Also, if you don't have pets but love the smell of cat pee or enjoy constant dog barking...live here for sure! The walls and floor are approximately a hair width thick. It's great.
If you enjoy choosing between shaving your legs OR washing your hair each shower, that is a perk as well.
Oh oh and they will tell you that you can get a washer and dryer combo in unit, but they don't tell you it has to go in the dining room and you have to hook the washer up to the kitchen sink when you need to wash. My trashcan doesnt even really fit in the kitchen so I can't forsee a washer going in there.
