I've lived at Lakeside for 12+ months now, this is my first apartment on my own- I moved in because I was desperate and the price was right for my budget. As far as safety and noise are concerned the complex is pretty good-I hardly ever hear my neighbors and am never concerned about coming home late at night. My FIRST night, my toilet leaked water out in to my room, and maintenance wouldn't come out until morning. Within my first month the water main for the entire complex broke and we were all without water for 24 hours; jump to month 2 and it broke again, pick any random month between the time I've moved in and now, and the water main has broken, I don't know if the issue lies with the complex or City of Charlotte, but it's such an inconvenience and kind of worrisome to never know when you'll be without water. The complex was purchased by a new property manager "Providence Management" and we've now been through multiple managers and staff within the office. Maintenance likes to paint over things instead of just replacing them and take several days for simple repairs, which is why I currently have a bathroom door that has water damage at the bottom and shotty cabinetry. They also don't seem to keep an eye on vacated apartments because neighbors above me moved out and some of their friends broke in and lived illegally for about a week which led to me needing my ceiling repaired due to them flooding the bathroom upstairs. I haven't had a big problem with roaches like everyone else; I've seen maybe 7 the entire time I've been there(seven too many in my opinion) but the exterminator/property staff try to play them off as "water bugs" and there's clearly a difference.

AND WATCH OUT FOR YOUR FINAL WATER BILL PAYMENT!! CALL THE WATER COMPANY BEFORE YOUR LEASE IS UP TO FINALIZE YOUR BILL BECAUSE YOU MAY BE PENALIZED BECAUSE THEY PRO-RATE THE BILL!! THEY ARE CROOKS AND DON'T CARE!! EVERY YEAR YOUR APT WILL DETERIORATE RIGHT BEFORE YOUR EYES...This place is a "hot mess"...THE WATER MAIN BROKE ALMOST 8 TIMES IN 3 YEARS!!! It's on a grid where your lights can go out at any time!! NO RENOVATIONS DONE!! THEY PAINTED THE OUTSIDE OF THE PROPERTY TO DRAW PEOPLE IN!! AND THE APT MODEL DON'T LOOK LIKE THE APT YOU WILL GET!!!! SAD SITUATION!! DON'T MOVE IN HERE!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! OH MINI BUG INFESTATION AT TIMES!!!! AREA IS GOOD SINCE THEY CLEANED IT UP; HOWEVER FOR YOUR MONEY, I WOULDN'T MOVE HERE!! PLUMBING IS OLDDDD!!!!! THEY HAD SOMEONE COME REFINISH THE TUB, NOW IT IS WORSE. STOVE BEEN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND SOME OF THE BALCONIES NEED REPLACING...THE CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND IS JUST PITIFULLL (IT'S OLD UNSAFE AND THEY HAVEN'T REPLACED IT AND NO NETS ON TENNIS COURT WHERE THERE ARE NO LIGHTS IN THE EVENINGS!! THIS IS A DISGRACE BECAUSE MANY LAKESIDE APT COMPLEXES ACROSS THE COUNTRY ARE WELL KEPT AND BEAUTIFULLLL....THEY ARE SO BIASED HERE; IT'S OBVIOUS! BECAUSE OF INCOME ETC..THEY DON'T FEEL RESIDENTS DESERVE A NICE PLACE TO LIVE. SHAME ON THEM!! OH HUMANITY!!!

The reviews are not exaggerating. This place is literally trash with high priced rent. The cabinets are not remodeled they just painted the body of the cabinets and replaced the doors. I also have water leaks and it looks like the ceilings and walls are coming down. I have a bad odor in the apartment that appears sometimes. Kind of like a mildew or mold smell. Let's not mention the bugs and ROACHES! They have treated my apartment and sprayed several times and it does absolutely no good. They don't listen when I tell them they have an infestation somewhere in the building. This whole complex needs to be condemned. I'm seriously thinking about seeking a lawyer to see about have the proper authorities come in and inspect this place. No one should have to live in these types of conditions. All they do in the office is lie or act concern. I'm so ready to move away from this place and I'm trying to get my lease to end early without penalty bc this is RIDICULOUS! The only reason I'm giving it a one star is bc I have to give something...... Otherwise they get no stars from me.

After reading the other reviews I can say the bad ones are not exaggerating unfortunately. I just moved in June 2015 and within 48 hours - roaches, large cockroaches you name it let me know they resided there already. It's still an issue. Roaches are everywhere throughout this complex. You can't wash your clothes peacefully because the laundry room is infested with roaches. I'm still waiting on cabinet doors. Yes they moved me into an unfinished apartment. I have tried to be chill since the price is decent. My move in list is still unfinished. Hot and cold water is backwards, flooring coming up, underlayment flooring sinking into the apartment underneath me, abandoned/undriven/dirty vehicle in front of my building, the trash does always seem to be on the ground throughout the complex, my main door is difficult to open and close, gets stuck, my toilet feels like it's going to fall apart and DID I MENTION THE ROACHES!!!!!! I too had my door all of a sudden not accept my ket anymore, luckily I was still there or I would've been locked out. Dogs do poop all over the property so my kids cant play in the grassy areas. Some of the current staff seem cool, but I am daily regretting my decision to move here. Hopefully things will change. Oh and the other reviews are accurate, it's hit or miss(a lot of miss) to reach the staff and when most people get off and home, the office is closed, I mean before 5:30-6pm most days.

I just moved into this "Lakeside Apartments" it hasn't been a month yet. I don't know where to begin with my frustration. #1 they don't answer the phone when you call, my bf called from his phone they didn't answer, as soon as he hung up (they didn't have my number) I called and it rang twice and they picked up. He called another time from the number they had on file for him they didn't answer, he called from his work phone and they answered. Then my apartment was suppose to be refurnished. The storage door doesn't close or lock, one of the slide doors doesn't have a lock on it, the bed room door doesn't close unless forced, the closet door doesn't close. My toilet was leaking within 3 weeks of living there. They don't call 24hrs in advance before sending maintenance. The maintenance doesn't clean up after themselves. My boyfriend came home one day and his tax papers were out on the bed, it wasn't like that when I left or when he left, another day the blinds were open from someone being in there. We had to ask several times for more hot water because it was cold and luke warm, we had to ask for them to turn the water pressure up. I went to take a bath and my stopper doesn't stop the water from draining. The people sprayed and after I started seeing roaches. (ROACHES DONT RESIDE IN A CLEAN HOME) and it gets clean at least twice a week. In my opinion I feel like it's too much going on for it not to be a month yet of me residing here. I am not satisfied with this place at all, I am ready to move into something better.

This is the worst apartment complex I've ever lived in. The management is absolutely horrible. They don't respond to work orders and they do not maintain the apartments as they are supposed to. When we first moved in in July of 2014, we were put in a roach infested apartment. When I say infested, I mean we used 3 bug bombs in a 480 square foot apartment, left for 12 hours, and came back to live roaches climbing the walls. We requested an exterminator come 6 times and he only showed up twice. We were refused a transfer without a lease break and a $150 jump in rent. When we threatened to sue (as I was 6 months pregnant at the time), they finally agreed to move us. We were then moved into another apartment (650 sq. ft.) but were told that we had to transfer within 2 days or we would lose the offer. My husband had to miss 2 days of work to make sure we were able to move so mine and my child's health were not in question any longer. He is a contractor so he is paid by the hour. That was 16 hours worth of work that he was not paid for doing, so the paycheck we received barely covered living expenses (food, gas, rent). When we first moved in, laundry rooms were open to use. They are coin operated so anybody who uses them has to pay. Several months later (after our transfer), they implemented a code on the laundry rooms so that non-residents wouldn't be able to use them. However, management refused to give the code to us. So we had to ask our neighbors (whom hardly speak English). Once we had the code, things seemed to be in order. We were in a clean apartment (albeit small for a 3 person family, but the rent rate for a 2 bedroom is almost $700, which is outrageous) and living comfortably. Today we were doing laundry and changing loads just fine. My husband went to change the loads (like he had been doing all morning) and found the code block missing and the door shut and locked. So now we have laundry stuck in the room. Management is closed and you cannot contact any of the workers directly. The grounds are disgusting. There are geese running around everywhere. Living next to a pond (too small to be a lake), I can understand some geese. But there are at least 30 geese that will stand in the middle of the road, making it impossible to drive through the complex sometimes. On top of the animals, they have a habit of marking their territory. The grass is always covered in animal feces and walking from my apartment to my car is always a game of "let's avoid getting goose poop on my shoes". There is no effort to clean up after these animals whatsoever. Pets are allowed to run without leashes and also leave their poop in the grass with their owners never picking it up. Complaints about this are ignored by the management thus adding to the piles of feces in my yard. The playground is falling apart and dangerous for children. The pool water is brown. The neighbors are loud and rude despite the noise ordinance clearly stated in the lease. Complaints about this are also ignored by the management even though we were explicitly told all complaints were taken seriously. Spending money to live in this place is a waste. You're better off getting a house and paying on a mortgage as the rent prices here are more than you would pay on a mortgage for a $250,000 home. Find a nicer community with better management, cleaner grounds, and apartments that aren't infested with roaches.

I recently moved out after 2 1/2 years. My plan was to live there 3 years, as part of my relocation theory: you don't stay where you move to, when you're learning a new city. I would have stayed longer otherwise. I did enjoy the staff and place. Apartment was great for the price, and the area is decent. Though I lived right next to the play area, there was no incidence of young kids hanging out all night or being loud. The groups of youngsters I saw were always polite and respectful. I thought the grounds were well kept, though the geese could slow traffic down. Still, I'm giving them the Excellent in hopes of tipping the Stars for them, because I think they're a good group of people who try hard with what they've got. I recommend anyone give them a look. We sometimes make our own heaven.
