So many issues with this place, its hard to know where to start, so Ill just start outside and work my way in.
Grounds/neighbors: at move in there was not much grass in the area we walked our dog, and they decided in February to cover all the grassy areas around the buildings with a thick layer of pine straw. I slipped and fell numerous times while taking my dog outside because the pine straw was very slippery, especially over the protruding tree roots they covered. When I addressed this with the apartment management, the solution she offered me was to only take my dog on the area that wasnt covered by the pine straw- a roughly 10 foot area right next to the woods that was covered in dead leaves and had an incline. No inquiry about whether or not I was injured when I feel hard on my backside. This area was covered in food, vomit and trash discarded over the balconies of the upstairs neighbors. Mosquitoes were rampant in warm weather as well. Neighbors smoked weed and had loud arguments at all hours.
Inside General: The only rooms with overhead lighting are the kitchen/dining area, bathrooms, and laundry closet. If you bring up this annoying fact with the office staff, theyll tell you that they prefer lamps to overhead lighting anyway, and besides lamps are so much fun to mix and match! Also, we tried plugging lamps into every outlet in each one of the rooms; none of them were controlled by the switches on the wall.
-Kitchen: very little counter or cabinet space. The pantry was missing a shelf, and despite repeated requests to get one put in (a wooden board cut to the correct size would have been fine) the maintenance staff told us they couldnt find an extra shelf so there was a 3 foot drop from where you opened the top pantry door to the first shelf behind the bottom pantry door. Never fixed. Oven light never worked, vent fan was ineffective.
-Living room: the track cover to the vertical blinds was already broken and sticking out from the wall when we moved in, and fell off shortly thereafter. The sliding glass door to the patio was almost impossible to close from the outside. When you locked the door, it could not be shut flush against the frame, because the security bar was about half an inch too short for the door and it wouldnt even touch the door if it was properly closed.
Bedrooms: very dark, and these were the only carpeted rooms. The carpet was not properly installed and would come up/away from the wall very easily. Doors on 2/3 bedrooms would not stay open. Prior ceiling damage evident in master BR.
Bathrooms: in the master bath did not have a stopper. When I requested one from maintenance they brought one of those spring loaded stoppers for the wall behind the door. The vent did not work in that bathroom, but if you forgot and flipped it on anyway, it would trip the GFCI on the outlet on the other side of the wall. Above the shower, the ceiling was starting to bubble and peel, and there was a bluish green stain around the area, on walls around shower mold was coming through the paint. TP roll installed so that when paper was on the roll it touched toilet seat. Medicine cabinets had rust and dirt inside them from move in. Sink in 2nd BA had chunks missing and rust spots.
Closets: small, doors always fell off the track, maintenance did not fix tracks only put doors back up then they would fall off again.
Misc: mailboxes broken for a month, not fixed before we moved out. Now theyre trying to charge us for the carpet because we had a dog, even though we paid a pet fee in the same amount, as well as charging for flea infestation caused by upstairs neighbors.
If you think you can live with all of this because its such a good value: Base rent was advertised as 1045. After all their fees/other charges it was 1163/month. Because of poor insulation/faulty AC power bill was always over $150. I could say so much more but theres a character limit.
