This is my second review! I moved out finally in March. You have no idea how happy me and my family are to finally be out of this horrible place! Come to find out we owe them $80 because our $300 deposit did not cover the "damages" of 1 year!!! 1 year!! $200 for carpet cleaning. $20 for TWO light bulbs and $75 for two sets of blinds. Excuse my french but where the hell are they getting their blinds from! Do not move here,worst decision you will ever make. Seriously i know ppl get over dramatic but i grew up in horrible places and this couldn't compare!

Hi there, I just wrote a review on yelp. Yes I am here too. Why you might ask, because there wasn't enough space for me to finish why this place is the worst place on the face of the earth to live. Just one thing I am going to write on here, because I have already made myself clear on yelp, and there is no point to beating a dead horse. Only thing I want to say is imagine this... You get home from work, you recently had your car broken into not even 100 feet from your apartment. The place you are staying at has done nothing to help, or at the very least been kind to you. You had to buy a parking spot next to your door, which YOU are responsible for making sure no one parks in, and YOU are responsible for getting cars towed out of the spot. You pull up and your neighbor is outside. She yells down to you, "did you hear what happened" and you respond with "no" because you have been working a double at your work because you have to pay to live at a place you hate, but cant break your lease because it is more expensive to leave than stay. She then explains to you that her door got kicked down by the SWAT team because they were looking for, and are still looking for a criminal who had just murdered someone. Oh what a wonderful thing to come home to, especially when you live alone. So after seeing that your door has not been kicked in, you try calling the office, knowing you am going to get the overnight operator, who might know whats going on. She does not, because no one has been informed except for your neighbor. So after having to have a friend stay the night with you, you call the next morning up at the front desk. They have no reassurance because they have nothing to say or anything to help you with. Now you have to go to work in hopes that there is not a killer hiding out in your apartment when you get home. Scary huh? Well that has happened to me while living at The Hendrix. So welcome your family to this place. A place where a gang killing has also happened across the parking lot as me and all they do is change out the carpet here. Bring your family to this place that is infested with bugs because there is a unkept ditch right outside your window. Oh wait! Did I say "window", I clearly meant, because a lot of these apartments don't have them, sliding door that is locked by a rod that fits into a little piece of plastic. That is keeping you and your family safe. And if something is broken or leaking in your home, oh don't expect it to be taken care of for a few weeks, maybe months. Or maybe if you are so lucky as to have maintenance come to your place, you might get the special treatment of getting the water damage stain in your ceiling painted over and told it was "taken care of", but months down the line when the mold starts to grow, they have no idea how it could have happened. Bring your family to this place where everyone who leaves The Hendrix hates the chunk of time they lived here, and walks away more clinical towards life than before. Thank you for your time, I wish I could give this place no stars.

Washers and dryers ate my quarters. The front desk was not customer friendly. They show you your options and it is NOT what you expect to live in.

Ive lived here for about 6 months. In that time I've had my tires slashed twice, car keyed, apartment burn down, apartment robbed, and someone robbed my new apartments packages because they were Amazon and not USPS (so the office wouldn't accept them). At least the office people are very nice, and maintenance is really good.

NEGATIVE 3 stars! Apartment buildings are old and unsafe. Lazy/ unprofessional office staff. Playgrounds dirty and unsafe. Dirty needles, glass, cat poop, and more in the sand of playgrounds. Maintenance team does bare minimum. They offered us a 1 bedroom. Thought that was what we were getting, later opened the door to a very dirty studio apartment littered with roaches!!!! Water pressure in bathroom is poor. Kitchen sink leaks. They nickel and dime you to dead with fines and violations! Such as trash being left on porch but the valet trash doesnt pick it up. But they still charge you an extra 25$ a month regardless if the valet trash people come or not. On Christmas Day one of the buildings catch fire! Drug dealers and criminals live here!! DO NOT RENT HERE!!! EXTREMELY UNFAIR AND UNSAFE APARTMENT COMPLEX!!

They fine you for anything they can find and then ignore you when you try and pay for it. Manager is the only one who knows how to do anything and she is almost never there, or at least says she's not. Save yourself and don't live here.

The Hendrix doesn't even deserve the one star minimum I have to give them for this review to post. This place was nothing short of a nightmare. I had to jump through hoops to get in to a tiny, less than appealing studio and when it BURNED DOWN one week later (on Christmas morning btw) the company refused to work with me to get into a different unit and I was forced out of my lease. Stay far far away from this piss poor excuse for a home.

My friend who lived here has already broken then lease, paid the reletting fee, which mind you. Is TWO months rent. PLUS 700$ I don't feel safe here, The apartments are old, the parking lot is DESTROYED, and has been this way for a while. The new towing company the two times I called them, never showed up to move the vehicle that was taking my RESERVED spot. I pay 25$ a month for it (you cannot remove the spot unless the lease expires) You are stuck with it, unless you want to pay another 25$ to get different spot. I am really at a loss for how poorly managed this place is. Just for the sake of your sanity and peace of mind. Please, PLEASE. do not move here.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!!!! I am using a friends name because I still live here, unfortunately. There has been problems since day one of moving here. From leaking roof to cabinets literally falling apart, to shootings, swat team kicking my neighbors door down because the apartment behind them was believed to have a fugitive in it. There are swat team stand offs every month. The AC doesn't work correctly and the bill for a 2 bedroom apartment was over $400 during summer months. But their obviously "certified" maintenance crew says there's nothing wrong. The AC would run the entire day and never drop below 80 degrees, until around 5am. The roof started leaking when I moved in (spring 2016) they just came to "fix it" last week, for the 3rd time. When they cut the ceiling out it was completely covered in mold. The office girls are nice enough but don't either don't know how or just can't do much to help. You think you are getting an ok deal because the size of the apartment but trust there are problems that are even bigger. Not to mention no parking unless you want to pay $50 for a space. They also force you to use valet trash for an extra $25 a month and they dont come consistently to pick up the trash. All different times and sometimes not even the days they are supposed to. They have a couple new buildings, but dont let that entice you... someone who lives in one of them told me there is already mold on the lower floors. One morning I woke up to leave the house (with my newborn at the time) and I had NO stairs to get down from the second floor. They gave absolutely zero notice that this would be happening. Across the way from me I watched them help an elderly woman down a ladder. My friend moved out and paid professionals to come and clean everything and steamed the carpets, they still charged for carpet replacement and $50 for one lightbulb in the bathroom. This place has been nothing but one headache after another! Do yourself a favor and stay far away. ***forgot to mention when we first moved in a drunk ran into our building and we no one in it had electricity for almost a week. Again I had a newborn. No one offered to help pay for a hotel or anything. And the poor guy whos apartment got ran into had to stay there with just a tarp protecting him from the elements. Also the water gets turned off almost daily without any notice. This is the worst place in Austin to live.

Getting charged 100 dollars because their system failed to pull rent out! and then having them tell you that there wasn't a thing they could do after showing them your receipt! Just got a new email saying ridiculous demands!! cant have toys on your patio? Cant have drapes! OH and also the trash valet that THEY make you pay for every month has certain times to pick up trash, and you will get fined if trash is outside waiting for them if its to early or to late! (Within a two hour period!!) And all trash must fit in one 12 gallon bin! Because you will get fined if it is not in that one bin! I have a hole in my selling from a leak, that they haunt fixed. I call everyday because i have small children and there is constant debree falling all day.. Hence the reason i am so pissed about the toys not being able to be on MY patio!! KEEP IN MY MIND I HAVE TWO PATIOS! I am not a negative person but this place is horrible, Im sorry i moved in, i cant wait to get out! Oh yea! Someone tried to take my rims off my KIA last week. I have been trying to get someone out to fix our A.C. unit for 2 weeks now. They keep telling me that someone will be out to fix it. The only person to have shown up just gave us a portable unit to leave in our window, even though it pops our breaker and we lose all power fairly often throughout the day. Not to mention the portable unit is running our electricity bill up to almost double what we normally pay. Then there are the issues of calling the office and rarely getting an answer just for me to walk to the front of the complex and see that the office is EMPTY. And on the off chance that I do get through to the office, I always seem to be greeted with an attitude or treated as though my issue does not matter to them. We do not fork out $1200 a month to deal with this. DO NOT MOVE HERE.

DO NOT MOVE HERE. I've lived here for 4 months and have had nothing but problems. I wasn't allowed to see the unit prior to moving in. I have had half of my ceiling replaced due to leaks from the unit above me. The apartment manager and maintenance dismiss every problem saying the complex is "a very old property." I recently had a water heater leak that flooded my entire bathroom, closet, and hall area. The issue began when I moved in but the apartments said it was an AC leak so it went unanswered for the next 3 months. The water heater has been replaced but I was without hot water for a week before the complex acknowledged it was their problem. The carpet has still not been cleaned, two weeks after the situation occurred. We've had roach problems, standing water, leaks in our ceiling, no hot water, no AC, disrespect from Kelli the property manager as well as maintenance, inaccessible handicap zones coupled with hazardous ramps (a big deal because I'm in a wheelchair). AWFUL COMPLEX! DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Not only will they never actually fix anything when you ask them to, they'll also never inform you of what charges are so that when you move out, you owe them almost $200 that you didn't know about until you're sent to collections because the mail was returned and they never called you about it! You may think you're getting a great deal on rent, but it's outweighed by the fact that nobody in the front office returns phone calls, maintenance is a joke, and the cops are called so often that WilCo sheriff's office might as well have a substation down the street. Oh, and let's not forget to mention the fact that the mailboxes were broken into 5+ times within a few months and nobody from the complex informed the residents for a good while until a piece of paper informing us that we had to go to the post office to pick up our mail made its way onto the boxes. For the love of god, don't live here. It's awful.

We have had two leaks with in two months this time its in my room and theres literally a puddle of water and I cant walk to my restroom without having my feet drinched in water. Also in the show closet the ceiling is collapsing and water is coming from that as well. Yet they wont even discount our rent. Also I dont want to forget about the trash you can find on the ground everyday here is also very refreshing. Dont move here end of story.

I lived there for 5 years due to my daughters schooling. Awesome location, huge bedrooms, & that's how short of the "positive" list is. The management sucks. The front office is untrained. If you ask 1 person a question, the next 3 will give different answers. The manager never left her desk. I've had to contact the property management three times in order for the manager to do her job. Don't expect maintenance to ever get to anything less then 3-4 days. And god forbid they have "to order the part" since apparently they keep nothing in stock, which adds another 3-4 days to your issue. They seem to do 2-3 "monthly" checks in your apartment, which is very obstructive & unnecessary. The buildings themselves are outdated, the foundation is so slanted, & the floor holes are just covered up rather then fixed. Literally a hole in the kitchen floor & the guys come in & cover it with laminated wood. Didn't pull up the old stuff or fix the hole, just covered it up. They try to find any little thing to get cash out of you. A child's sticker on the door, $25. The valet didn't pick up trash, $25. No updated vet check, $150. Something in your apartment broke, $60. They charge you for bulbs when you move out but don't replaceme them. I've had neighbors break their leases because of a major leak in the roof that they wanted them to pay for. Saw my downstairs neighbor change 3 times in a year due to mold. It's crazy how they pass inspections!

Although this apartment has many negative reviews, my experience at the hendrix was not horrible. Maintenance was attentive when needed and the office staff were helpful and understanding of a situation when needed to be. I appreciate the time of day the office had given me to workout a situation. Aside from the staff, the complex itself it's to bad for the sq ft and what you pay. The community is alittle bit on the rough side but I never had any problems with anyone.

Both Ms Courtney & Ms Kelly in particular, will always try and accommodate your needs and help out with ever way possible, even as busy as the office is with phones ringing off the hook. I've seen a lot happen in the years I've resided here, they do MUCH more than just manage. They don't get the credit they deserve. They've scratched my back during the fire, extremely caring people. I highly recommend them if you plan on living in Austin NW area. They both deserve a raise.

Trash everywhere, cheap interiors and worst landscaping. More than anything, the staff in leasing office were totally inefficient. I went into leasing office exactly 60days before my lease was gonna end to notify them. They said, I have to give them a written/typed letter. & then I got busy for a couple of days and went in again with a letter and they said they don't need it and just printed an agreement and made me sign on it & said I would be charged $350 for late notice. I did not argue because the staff there looked very impatient and I knew for sure, they wouldn't help but say some generic, nonsensical excuse. Enjoy my hard earned $350 Hendrix :) oh!! & coming to parking, if you do not have an assigned spot, it is highly unlikely to find an empty spot after 8pm. I had to park my car outside the community many times. More importantly, there had been multiple incidents inside this community where cops had to come (robbery, nuisance etc). Thank god, my lease finally came to an end. I am done. My suggestion, consider twice before you move into this moldy, yucky junkyard.

Haven't even moved into this complex yet and the service is already not so great, we were supposed to move in on Wednesday and got a call the day of stating that the apartment is NOT ready and that it wouldn't be ready until SATURDAY...me and my sisters got a call on that Thursday saying that they are changing our whole apartment number is changing to a different apartment with a different design, not pleased with the service at all at this point. Hopefully it gets better after we actually move in. But it really has been a mess trying to move in.

I experience a fire in 2012 almost lost my family.I just so happen to hear sirens and looked outside the widow and it was a fire.We had to move to a church shelter until it was safe and repaired to go back. I left my lease one month early because of this and now they have it on my credit report! I can not talk to anyone to have it removed because their has been several managers who have taken over since I moved. So this makes it difficult for my family to find a decent place because of this mark on our credit! Dec 20, 2012 1:30am we and 68 Families and their units lost everything to a catastrophic fire. Our unit was leased in April of 2012 and not a single smoke alarm was set off. No pull alarms could be heard. We were woken up from coughing do to smoke inhalation. Units were door to door evacuated by law enforcement. We were told if we wanted our prorated rent back we would need to sign a waiver of release of liability to sue. I declined the waiver. No answer or reason was found for the apartment catching on fire, we suspect faulty wiring electrical outlets or an incorrectly extinguished cigarette. Over two years have passed since the fire and we are still dealing with a ripple effect on psychological, physiological and financially from that night. I lost a very lucrative job overseas in the struggle to find a new place to call home for my family and repurchase all the necessities for day to day living. If there was an ability to give 0 stars I would. I had a horrible time living there and I wish I could take back the 2 years. This complex has tenants because of where it's placed. We could never get rid of the stupid ants!! Our neighbors were cool but I could hear everything in their apartment. One drunk girl crashed into someone's apartment and the complex still made her pay a full months rent when her bedroom wall was gone. They renamed because IRA or international residences had a horrible reputation. The rent is cheap but you make that up in your $250 electric bill for a 2 bdrm...the people in the office act snobby and it's probably because someone is always complaining about their crappy apartments. Oh yeah one guy hung himself, so many places sell drugs, and they slap you with crazy fees for stuff that should have been fixed while you were living there. I had documented work orders so I dodged that bullet...GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING!!!! Even a hello !!

First off, the apartment complex came under new management and did not tell anyone! I have had constant issues since moving in, my A/C broke and was causing me to have a $300 electric bill for a 2 bedroom! My apartment is nothing like the model. Appliances are old, stove kept breaking (thankfully I was able to fix) dishwasher is awful, and there is no insulation it seems. I just got my notice to renew my lease and they are now charging an extra $100 a month. If I hadn't just painted I would be moving. The outside of the apartments are horrible looking, no 2 buildings are the same. They charge you to use the Workout Room, and the maintenance staff is awful. The guy who came to fix my A/C told me he was to old to go up and down stairs, that he smoked alot, and I had an intial consultation to find out why my electric bill was so high, he said he would come back that afternoon and never did. When he did come back the next day he didn't bring anything with him. Parking is awful, I pay for a private space just so I don't have to hunt for one. Like I said, If I didn't want to repaint I would be moving. I do not recommend these to any one. Oh! And heaven forbid you get a fine for something, it might literally break your bank.

I originally chose this complex because it was cheap and I didn't expect to get any noise complaints from the neighbors, but any money I saved from the cheap rent was gobbled up by the ridiculous utility charges - the units here are very badly insulated and the A/C units are noisy and inefficient. There's recently been a change of management, but the only change I've noticed is that the late fees are two or three times more expensive now. Oh, and they're charging for a mandatory valet trash pickup service. They charge for reserved but uncovered parking spaces too - the management here will do everything they can to nickel-and-dime their renters and skimp on maintenance costs.
