Kensington Park

By Anonymous Reviewer, May 01, 2018 This complex bills itself as having Gated Luxury Apartment Living. Im not sure where they get this. The apartments themselves are pretty much the same thing youd find anywhere else in this price range. The pools are nice, but are consistently packed with loud disrespectful drunks from morning to night. There are complex provided radios blasting awful pop and country music all day, every day. Hopefully you like Drake... because you'll hear his music play for at least 5 hours a day. This echoes across the complex, and can be heard even with all doors and windows shut. Forget opening your windows to let in some fresh air on a nice day, unless you find the sound of people screaming, fighting and blasting bad music relaxing. The pools are supposed to close around 10pm but that rarely happens. Call security and youll often get no answer and a full voicemail. If you do get ahold if someone, they're not really responsive. This means, if you want to get to sleep, you have to call the police department and keep them from more important business. In fact, its past 10pm now, and Im listening to the sound of people continuously screaming whoo over Lynyrd Skynyrd... loud enough to be heard over my TV with all doors and windows shut. The gates give an illusion of safety. People usually just wait for a resident to come in, and tailgate them in. This is the only gated complex Ive lived in, and it is also the ONLY place In Springfield Ive ever had my car vandalized and robbed. My roomate as well on a separate occasion. The gym is decent, but the equipment is often broken, and stays that way for some time. There is a malfunctioning treadmill that has been that way as long as Ive lived here. The water machine is almost always empty. There are also never any towels or paper towels available to clean the machines. The internet regularly crashes, sometimes for hours, sometimes for days. Not sure I can blame the complex, because Mediacom is awful, but youd think with all the outages, they would find a new provider. The residents... maybe its because there is no deposit required, or maybe the part of town/proximity to MSU... but some of the worst people Ive ever lived around. It may just be that the residents invite their friends who treat the place like a dump then leave. There was an industrial sized garbage dumpster in the middle of the parking lot for a month or two last summer. The residents were too lazy to put their trash in the normal dumpsters 10 feet away and just kept piling trash in the big dumpster until it started to overflow and trash was strewn across the lot. The smell was horrible. Flies, bees etc became a problem. It would rain, then be 100 degrees, and the trash smell just got worse. I really want to give this place a good review, as the staff is kind, and the place has potential... but dont advertise luxury living and provide an atmosphere that is something like a 2 star hotel during spring break. Call it what it is... a nice place for college students with affluent parents to come party. Save the folks who want a nice, reasonably quiet place to live some trouble. Or alternatively, hire some adults who run the place like a legit business. Im really looking forward to my lease expiring so I can go somewhere that caters to grown ups.

By Sarah Ewing, April 19, 2018 My husband and I love Kensington Park and the girls in the office are so fantastic and always so sweet. Charles, the property manager is a complete jerk though. Hes unprofessional, rude and extremely short. He was the one to gave me my keys and he did not give me any information on the property, did not give me our mail key or explain how to use the front gate. Every time we have spoken with him he has been extremely rude. We have been so displease with him.

By Nikki Marie, October 31, 2017 The ladies in the office are amazing. They are always extremely friendly and willing to help however they can. I am very happy with the look of the apartment, I love the maintenance workers, and security always makes me feel very safe. That being said, here are my issues with this complex. 1.) The "free high speed internet" is a freaking joke. The internet is down at least once every week or two. When it's not down, there are plenty of times at night when the internet speed is .016 Mbps (for reference, average is about 20 Mbps or more, to run Netflix or Hulu you need a speed of about 3-5 Mbps which is incredibly low). I will say that the office is really good about letting you know if the internet is down (but not when it is super slow or spotty). 2.) I live on the first floor, and often times maintenance men (from Mediacom I would guess) are in my storage closet. I'm assuming there is some kind of modem in there for the entire building, but I don't appreciate that no one told me this before I moved in to the complex. I also don't like that they go in and out of there as they please, without so much as notifying us that they will be going in a closet where I store a lot of our extra things such as holiday decor. They use my ladder in there sometimes, which I don't mind too much, but they also move around the items in the closet a lot which I feel is a violation of my personal property. If you're going to do this, please just tell me. Preferably before, but after would be better than nothing. 3.) When I moved in to my apartment, one girl had already lived there for a year and the other two girls moved out. The two who moved out trashed the apartment, and when my roommate who had lived here for a year asked Kensington what they could do about it they told her it was her responsibility. Considering these people signed a lease and paid a deposit I would think there is a way to make them clean up when they leave. 4.) Not Kensington's fault, but people whip around the curves of the parking lot all the time. I've almost had someone run in to my car 6 times in the past 2 months.

By Jordan Null, October 11, 2017 There internets works maybe 50% of the time so you cant ever do homework at your own place it seems like therefore I have to drive to the library all the time just to do a little bit of homework and plus my friends job is an online job and hes had hours upon hours where hes not getting paid because the internets doesnt work. If the internets was better I would give them a 4 star

By Ciara Turner, October 10, 2017 This is my second year of living inside the complex. Things have been really great but also really bad. Staff is friendly and as helpful as they can be, usually security has been quick to respond, and I feel generally safe and secure. When I moved into my second apartment here it was extremely dirty, paint everywhere, and it was a hassle to even get the key. I had called in advance about the key issue, set up a plan, called again the day of to remind them and still no key. We have power outages far more often than I understand, but the staff cant control that and do a good job updating us. The internet situation is totally ridiculous. Last year and this year Ive continually dealt with internet outages frequently, and the response time to getting it fixed is getting slower and slower. As of now, internet is out again and has been out for over a day. They communicated almost 7 hours ago that it should have been fixed within 3 hours but it is not, and no communication since. While living here is generally nice, the little issues just continue to pile up and lead to huge frustration.

Over the past few months I've had the privilege of working with Valerie, Mitch and the staff at Kensington Park. Every interaction I've with anyone associated with this company has been a positive one. The staff is organized and show a geniune concern for their tenants. Property is safe and immaculately cared for. Cannot recommend more highly!

By Anonymous Reviewer, August 04, 2017 They've had a large, overflowing open-top dumpster in the parking lot for 2 weeks now. Trash is everywhere. The whole area stinks of garbage. The pools are almost always full of loud drunk obnoxious bros blasting bad music until midnight or later. When the pools close for fall and winter and they have no place to go, you'll often find them in the parking lot screaming at each other and fighting. Then drunkenly speeding around the lot. Its like living in the dorms again. If management took care of business a little better it'd be a great place to live. Unfortunately its become something between a frat house and a landfill.

By Rachie Bird, July 16, 2017 We loved our year at Kensington Park Apartments . Extremely pristine clean when we moved in. The movie collection is excellent and so convenient. Pool was loud at night, a lot of people would jump the fence...and goof off. But unless you are near the pool it's not a big deal unless you are RIGHT next to the pool...and it wasn't every single night...it did happen pretty frequently though. Security might have cracked down on it since we moved. Maintenance is fast if you need anything , and our utilities (electric ) was always very cheap. Everything seemed very energy efficient . I do wish the dog restrictions weren't so strict. Some apartments /landlords do a case by case basis which is what our current landlords have done. 25 pounds or under and there's a height limit as well. We have a large breed dog that's very well behaved but she's 60 pounds and would never be allowed. But if they every loosened we'd love to come back . :)

By Brianna Craven, April 05, 2017 I have lived in Kensington for 2 years now. It is a wonderful place to live I have rarely had any issues with anything. They keep the area well kept and if I put in a maintenance order at 11pm at night the maintenance man will be in my house by 11am the next morning. At the beginning I had an issue with them telling me I didn't pay my rent TWICE back to back but ever since we got rent post it has been a little better (even though it jacks your rent up 15 dollars for rent post fees. I highly recommend Kensington. Planning on moving to the back side of the apartment complex (The Lodges) in the summer

I have only had good experiences living here. All of the staff is very kind and tentative. All of the work orders I have placed have been handled in a very timely manner, and the maintenance crew is very helpful and kind. The apartments are very spacious and make you feel at home. The gym, swimming pool, hot tub, lazy river, community room, and movie selection are all excellent additions to the apartment complex. I highly recommend living here! SI-F208

By Robert Stone, July 03, 2013 For the price, this is an excellent location, centrally located. We got a third floor apartment and like the vaulted ceilings with no one to stomp above us. Management is very pleasant and gets things fixed quickly when requested. Our kids love the pool (big enough to do laps) and it's salt NOT chlorine. I love the exercise room and the community room is LARGE, tastefully decorated and not often used. I so appreciate for simplicity that the ONLY bill is electric. Everything else is covered, sewer, trash, water and even internet. Young people who always had their moms and dads magically pay for all this may not appreciate it, but we do! And that brings us to the only negative . . . this is largely a college dominated community and we sometimes have to cover our kids eyes (and ours) at the pool. :-( The hot tub can be literally bubbling over with scantily clad 20 somethings of all shapes and sizes. Occasionally a late night party has awoken us at 4 am on a Saturday. Generally, however most tenants are courteous and kind. We've loved living here. Maybe covered parking someday in the future would be a nice addition?
