I lived at Stanhope Apartments every year of grad school. It was, hands-down, the best student living experience I could have ever wanted. From the amazing amenities (check out the cool gym if you have a chance) to the friendly staff, I could not have felt more at home in my "home away from home." They truly made the transition from Mississippi to North Carolina flawless for me. Whether looking for an undergrad or grad school experience, I would refer everyone to Stanhope. Due to being the closest and nicest property to campus, I was able to meet tons of new people and be plugged in with any campus activity I wanted toall without having to drive my car! If you are a student or parent looking for housing, make sure to check them out.

Stanhope is awesome! By far the best apartment complex for a student in the Raleigh area. The staff is always helpful and efficient in helping me with any questions, the rooms are huge, and the other amenities are also very nice.

Reviewing as a parent... Stanhope is in a great location for NCSU students. It is a modern building and provides a secure location. Unfortunately, the walls are paper thin. You can literally hear casual conversations from your adjoining neighbors. If your kids are quiet, theyll be annoyed by their neighbors. If your kids make any noise you can expect fines. Also, expect to pay additional fees for utilities. We paid $25$35 every month (thats $50-$70 per room. Even for December, when no one lived there - thermostat set at 72). Lastly there is the furniture. The vinyl on the couch essentially disintegrated within four months on the seating surfaces, arms and back. The table is no better. It has linoleum wrapping on the sides that WILL peel back and fall apart. Budget accordingly!

Adriane and all the support staff at Stanhope are absolutely unbelievable. They care deeply about the residents at Stanhope and they do everything in their power to make sure that Stanhope residents are well taken care of when issues arise that need to be addressed. One cannot find a better place than Stanhope to entrust the care and well-being of your college student. D. Branch

I've lived here for 3 years since they opened and here is my honest assessment: Pros: close to campus, super safe area and parking deck, nice countertops and bedroom space, great maintenance team. Cons: over priced, almost no storage space, the fire alarm goes off every week or so (it's happening now which prompted this post), the community is mostly college kids who are destructive and have no concern for other peoples property, loud nighbors and parties, the people in the office are nice but not super helpful if you have an issue that requires more than a basic answer, the power bill is always high because they divide the power bill by the total used by your floor (not on an individual unit basis). I've had many horror stories with this complex and a lot of it has to do with the types of people that live here. If you're looking for quiet, this is not the place for you (especially during sports season or party nights).

Wow. Where do I start? Stanhope has been a phenomenal living experience. It all started on day one when I first toured with the leasing team--they were so kind, honest and genuine with me and answered all the concerns I had about moving somewhere new. I know I made the right choice with Stanhope!

Lived here for a year and although the building, amenities, and staff are nice and pleasant, it is the definition of "student living". If you want the stereotypical college experience it's a perfect fit. If you're looking for a mature lifestyle to live in, keep looking.

Stanhope is a great student apartment for North Carolina State students! The amenities are incredible and include an up-scale gym, beautiful pool & lounge area, and not to mention the the resident appreciation giveway days where residents can enjoy free chick fil a minis, insomnia cookies, and other snacks!! The maintenance crew is always very fast and reliable, and the cleaning lady and front office staff are the absolute sweetest! The security at Stanhope and location next to NC State's campus make it a great apartment complex for any student!

As a parent this is a decent place to live for my daughter. There are cheaper places but there is a greater measure of security. I also like the fact there is a parking deck. Any issues she has faced are nothing that the office staff can control but they are responsive and friendly. They are really nice and very close to campus which is a plus. Very convenient to shopping and restaurants also.

Sure, this place is expensive, but I've lived here since August and have already signed for next year. My roommate and I appreciate not having to drive to campus every morning, and it's nice to be able to fill out a work order with the confidence that maintenance will come fix something in a timely manner. The fire alarms are frustrating, but those are mainly because annoying people pull them, so hopefully that will stop soon. The office staff are friendly and seem genuinely interested in helping solve problems, which I've heard isn't always the case at other complexes. Bottom line: if you're not worried about money and want somewhere furnished and within walking distance of campus, Stanhope is a good option. Otherwise, there are plenty of places a short drive from campus that may not be as nice but are cheaper and good enough for college.

Super friendly people who work here, and a fast turn around for work orders. I'm staying in a studio apartment and it's just enough for one person. Its easy to take advantage of all of the amenities here from the cyber cafe to the 24 hour gym. It may be on the pricier side when it comes to rent and paying for parking, but the real reason this apartment building is so great is it's location to NC State's campus. I'm just a 5 minute walk from my first class of the day and I have enough time to walk back and grab lunch from my apartment. Not to mention all the great retailers below like a 24 Hour CVS and IHOP. Don't worry about random people being near your apartment because each entry way to residential areas have remote key entries. Of course since these are student apartments you have to come in expecting to have some loud neighbors, but that is nothing to blame Stanhope about. One of the things that I like about Stanhope is that they offer guest parking, even if it is on a first come, first serve basis. I've already renewed for next year, and I would totally recommend this to anyone who would rather walk to class than drive. Honestly this is the closest to living on campus as it gets!

Who is going to pay 4$ an hour for guest parking? The walls are paper thin. Live 5 minutes off campus and get an incredibly nicer apartment. Stanhope will con you on prices at every turn. The benefit of living within walking distances to classes is the only thing that makes this a two star review. The stairways smell like piss, the staff are rude, and again the walls are so thin you can hear people talking in the room over.

The floors in my room are already uneven and this is only the 3rd year the apartments have been open. WAYYYYY over priced. Its absurd. And they raise their prices every year. And the worst part about the rent being so high is that they give away so much FREE stuff. Like apple watches, amazon echos, TVs, etc. This place kind of sucks but hey it is only 3 minutes to nelson.

I don't understand the 1 and 2 star rating that people are giving Stanhope. I lived there for a 1.5 years and enjoyed it. Maintenance does take a while to come but if the problem it urgent then go to the leasing office ( which is in the same building, on the first floor) and talk to someone in person and within the next day or two someone will fix your problem. Staff is super friendly, from the house keeping to management. Never had a bug problem which I appreciate. Walls are a lil then or neighbors are just really loud could never figure that out but to be expected especially knowing how loud and turnt NCSU students can get. Hey it's student housing, students live there, students are going to do what students do...study and party. Overall I would live there again if I could but I've graduated and don't have my parents paying my rent anymore so it's not in my budget.

Very nice place with many amenities and convenient to the campus for easy access. We enjoyed our stay and staff was helpful when needed. My child lived here for 2 years and she has no complaints. She has graduated and I'm thankful that she had a good experience during her time at Stanhope.

Do not recommend living here. I lived here (in frustration) for 2 years solely for the reason of location and convenience to NC State's campus. When it comes time to move out, they will find any reason to charge you to get more money. When making any payments, you are charged a "convenience fee" of either $12 or $50 to use a MasterCard or Visa. Parking is not even enforced correctly. I had a parking sticker and pass, yet the parking deck was always open for the public to come in, they tell you that you can park on your floor but that is not true. I was on the second floor and they would often email the residents saying if our car was on the first two floors it would be towed. This was also a lie though, because they never towed. This also goes for the public; on Wednesday-Saturday nights I was unable to find a parking spot because of all the people parked in there that did not even have a parking pass or live in Stanhope. To continue, the pool is closed often, closed after 9pm, and when it is open, does not get sun. Only benefits to living here are location and the gym. Not worth the thousands of dollars that will be taken from you for living here.

My rating is inflated due to the proximity to campus and the fact that it is furnished (which is nice). But, it is pricey (and prices climbed $80 from the first year without notice and without any upgrades). In addition, the materials used within the building seem inexpensive: the painted lines in the parking garage have already disappeared, the paint on the walls is scuffed by things like my comforter, tiles are coming up, etc. The office hours are not catered to student's needs (the hours that they are open continue to shrink over time, making it difficult to get packages). Maintenance is quick to respond and is helpful, however. Elevators are the slowest in the world, I swear. There are pros and cons to living here, and it has the potential to be a great place for students, but I would consider other options for the price in its current state.

It's a nice enough place to live, but they REALLY need to get their stuff together. The good things: the parking garage is connected to the building, so you can park on the same floor that you live. Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing feature and definitely the best part about living here. Convenient to and from classes, and the gym is great for cardio (barely any resistance machines though) The bad: where to begin. The first day I moved in, I put all my dishes in the dishwasher and ran the dishwasher. SUPER difficult to close, slam it shut anyway. Midway through the cycle, I notice a huge puddle on the floor. The next day I put in a work order for a leaky dishwasher. A man came around 3 days later, said he was unable to fix the dishwasher since "the cabinets were built around the dishwasher", so someone would have to come shave down the cabinets before he could work on the dishwasher. That was over a month ago. Since then, my roommate has spoken to staff and still no one has come back. The bedroom doors are so thin that the little door stopper at the top of the door that makes it so the door doesn't slam literally put a hole through my door. Yes, the little rubber circle penetrated my door. Which is how I know how thin the door is (I can see it). Also, no one has access to mail. During move in, they said that mailbox keys would be provided soon. Seeing as it's a new complex I understood that it would take some time to get everything straightened out. I understand that. But it has been over a month and you have to go down to the front desk during business hours and ask them if you have gotten any mail. With packages, they at least email you a notification but it is still extremely ridiculous. The most intolerable thing is probably the alarm system. The alarm has gone off more than 5 times in the past 3 weeks, all for at least 30minutes at a time with one of them being at 2:20am on a Thursday night. I understand that this happens, especially as new store are being placed below stanhope, but for something that happens with this frequency you would imagine it shouldn't take 30+ minutes to shut off the alarm. Or that they would have fixed the system so that it doesn't go off for no reason. Lastly, this is very minor but it really drives me crazy. The desk and chair provided in each room were not selected thoughtfully. The chair cannot be pushed under the desk, meaning even when your room is all clean and straight, you still have a chair that is fully in the middle of the space. Also you cannot scootch yourself into the desk super far since the chair is too tall to fit under the desk. Anyway, it just really makes me frustrated.
