There's quite a few problems I have with this place.
1. Like many apartments, it looks nicer than it actually is. When we first moved in, many items in the apartment were broken, like the bottom of a kitchen drawer was completely broken (leaving the drawer open from the bottom) and the towel rack in the bathroom had been wrenched off the wall on one side and then nailed (nailed!) into place with two nails on each side. The maintenance guys were nice enough to (eventually) come fix these things, but I do question the quality of the fixing.
2. The resident who lived in our apartment before us must've had a dog, because there is dog hair everywhere, so I wonder if Pinnacle Canyon View does thorough cleaning check outs? We've lived here for 10 months and we still pick up dog hair every time we vacuum!
3. My biggest complaint by FAR is the staff/maintenace/ HVAC issues. When we first moved in, the AC did not work in our apartment. It was summer and our apartment on the top floor would often hit 85 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, even with all the windows and doors open and fans at full power. I contacted maintenance and they didn't know what to do. They didn't know how to fix it, so they told me when they checked it out (which was when I was at work and not there to witness it), it worked for them. I had to call them in to do maintenance work 3 times before they would admit they were out of their depth and they called in an HVAC guy, who immediately knew what was wrong and got it fixed. Still, that was almost two weeks of no sleep and dying in extreme heat.
4. Again, HVAC issues. They turned off the AC for the winter, since, obviously, no one would be using it. But it is now May and they have not turned the AC back on for the summer! Our apartment is again reaching 80+ degrees, even at night, and I can't sleep in this heat without doping up on multiple sleeping pills. It's been a rough week. I have contacted the office about it, but they have done nothing so far.
5. Office hours for the office suck. I work 8-5 and, on some days, they're closed by the time I get home. They're not available on Sunday and have reduced hours on Saturday. There is an emergency line you can call, but that line is outsourced to someone who doesn't work at the office, so there's not much they can do. We've had to call the emergency line before late at night and we've been told, "your problem does not constitute an emergency, so we won't help you."
6. If you have to pay rent by CC sometimes (which I do because the days I get paid and the days my rent is due don't line up on some months), there are $31 convenience fees per transactions! Even if you do a bank transfer, there's still a $1.25 convenience fee, which isn't nearly as bad as the CC, but still.
7. As of this month, you can no longer pay rent by checking/savings account. You MUST pay by credit card or some dumbass thing called 'moneygram'. Also, if you are even just a day late with rent (because you don't want to pay the $31 CC fee), you get slapped with over $100 in late fees. This place will nickel and dime you for everything!
8. Rent prices are too high. I know everyone thinks their rent should be lower, but this place is for real. Depending on the lease you have, they can raise your rent $400 or 500 dollars higher than a different lease. We took a lease with the lowest amount of rent we could have per month and I still feel it's at least 2 or 3 hundred dollars too expensive for what we're getting.
All in all, our AC unit has broken and we've had to call in maintenance about it at least 8 times, and we've only lived here 10 months.
So, obviously, communication with the office sucks. If you have the time to go down to the office and speak to someone, the staff has been polite. But it's all a show. They're polite, but they really don't do much to really fix the problem. I know the secretaries are limited in what they can do and are under the jurisdiction of their bosses, but still.
