I wish I could give them 0 stars. In late 2013, my husband and I, two poor grad students, rented an apartment here. By the end of our 2nd year, we were counting down to the day we could finally move out of it. The straw that broke the camel's back was water leaking (or more accurately, falling down like rain) from the ceiling and flooded our walk-in closet and bathroom. The apartment opposite from us was completely flooded.
When we contacted CIP management to report our damages, they told us to contact our insurance company because they held no responsibility in these situations. We then asked if we could move out early because we couldn't stand the loud industrial fan they brought in to dry the carpet (it blew day and night for a week), they said we would lose our deposit and the remaining rent of the month (thank god, we already switched to month-to-month rent). We had to stay in that unsafe environment until the end of that month. When we moved out, they refunded us about 30% of the deposit, stating we didn't clean the apartment well enough (mind you, we did). A month later, a collection company contacted us on CIP's behalf to collect an amount equal to the partial deposit refund we got from CIP, saying it was an OPPD (electric company) fine. I contacted OPPD and there was no such fine. A friend of mine who stayed in a CIP's building in Lincoln told me they also did this to him. I paid them anyway because I didn't want to deal with disputing a collection item in our credit report.
After moving out of Place 72, we paid only $400 more for a new 2 bed 2 bath unit (with our own washer and dryer) in a Broadmoor apartment community. The new apartment was 50% larger, and had plenty of natural light which improved my mood and health a lot. Our new community had 2 huge CLEAN swimming pools and excellent maintenance service. When we moved out, they refunded our entire deposit within a week. We no longer stay at any Broadmoor properties due to new work locations, yet we have only good things to say about Broadmoor. The same thing doesn't apply to CIP. Good bye dirty swimming pool, broken (shared) washers and dryers, paper-thin walls, loud neighbors, rude smokers and dark and outdated apartments.
Please steer clear of this apartment complex!
