My daughter lived at University Station for two years and if I had to do it all over again, I would not have her live there. I had high expectations for UStation being that it was a new facility and had anticipated a much better experience for what they charge in rent. The first year she lived there, my daughter and her roommates discovered mold behind their washer and dryer unit. They filed a maintenance request and their request was not treated as urgent, in fact, the maintenance guy told them that it was not dangerous mold. It was not until the parents got involved that the property manager addressed the issue. The girls were displaced for almost a week as it required extensive repairs to rid the apartment of the mold. Management made arrangements for them to stay at a hotel which actually turned out to be a rundown motel that was filthy and located in a rundown part of town, so the girls opted not to stay there and ended up having to impose on friends to house them while they were displaced. After all of the parents complained, they provided a $200 credit to each tenant on the next month's rent. And that was just the beginning. We complained countless times about vomit not being cleaned up in the hallway, broken door handles from the stairwell into the hallway, trash in the stairwell, maintenance requests not being taken care of in a timely manner or not addressed properly (such as the only way to keep the freezer door closed was to have a PT band wrapped through the handle of the freezer and attached to the cabinet), malfunctioning washer/dryer that ultimately had to be replaced and the list goes on and on. Property management changed hands and the tenants were never notified. I happened to find out because my daughter was not getting a response from a complaint she had, so I reached out to their corporate office only to find out that there was a new property manager. There are many more things that I could share, but they are just too numerous to recount. My daughter graduated in the spring and I am so thankful to no longer have to pay UStation rent. However, there seems to be no end in sight as they're haggling with the girls over a few chipped pieces on a corner cabinet and are charging them $50 for the repair which is an absolute joke. In fact, their list of surcharges is quite extensive and is definitely a means of them making extra money. Nothing that you pay up front goes towards any of the potential charges at the end of the lease, so be prepared to get hit with extra charges. They also were not willing to accommodate anyone requesting a walkthrough this year as they said they had too many requests, so you will be at their mercy in regard to anything they identify which means, they could potentially create a damage and attempt to charge you for it. So make sure you take pictures of EVERYTHING, as I do not trust them. Of course, they do not even take into consideration the fact that the many of the amenities are not available to the tenants, for example, there is quite a bit of broken equipment in the exercise room or management indicating that the pool hours have to be shortened or the pool will not be open due to lack of staff. Don't waste your money, look for other options.
