Currently a resident here, really nice apartments, but keep in mind that there is no 24 hour contact for maintenance. I left my keys at the gym one morning and couldn't get in to retrieve them. There was a girl in the office, but she wasn't picking up the phone and neither was maintenance. Cue me running around at 6:20 in the morning and crawling through the bushes to knock on my roommate's window so I could get back in.

I was excited to move to Heights at Meridian upon touring with David. The grounds were beautiful and the apartments were modern and spacious, not to mention they were pet friendly. However, upon moving in I noticed the construction materials used were poor quality. The vinyl sheet floors, the flat paint in every room including in the bathroom which shows watermarks, the doors are cut high at the bottom so you can hear everything from bathroom to bedroom etc and the bathroom grout is not sealed etc. In addition managements service isnt what one would expect based on the grounds. Despite confirming a move-in day and time, upon arrival no one was in the office, the door was shut with a will be back in 30 mins sign. The continuous one person handling of the office continued during our entire stay and it was quite difficult to get assistance when needed. My biggest issue with the community is what happens after move-out. I was charged almost $1000 for carpet replacement and stove scratches. In no way shape or form is management transparent about how much they charge upon move-out. It is excessive. Ive lived in four class A communities in 3 states (ive moved around a lot for school and work) and have never been charged for damages upon move-out because I clean throughly and return back to he condition I found it in. Meridian charged me carpet replacement for the entire apartment. When I asked to speak with the manager to dispute the charges, the assistant manager Kerrington said she would handle the dispute. She took my info and said she would follow up with the service manager who determined my damages and call me back the next day. I also asked her to look at the carpet herself because I was still in disbelief and figured they made an error. I waited all day the following day for her call and I never received one so I called the office again. Kerrington then stated oh right I was going to call you back but our service manager was out today. She couldve called me to follow-up with this info but she didnt, again poor management. She also stated she couldnt look at the carpet herself because it was replaced the same day I moved out. Keep in mind, I moved out a day before my lease ended, so how could you have attempted to clean the stain if you replaced it the same day. I then waited Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, no phone call and no email, by now it had been one week. Very unprofessional. I then called again and asked to speak directly with the manager. I spoke with Brittany who explained that her staff found a stain in one bedroom and none in the other bedroom (although my bill states all carpet had to be replaced) and that its their policy to replace all the carpet in the entire apartment even if a stain is only in one bedroom. I was charged for both the master and guest bedrooms and should not have been charged at all. At no point did they attempt to clean the carpet stain which was normal wear and tear foot traffic. She further explained that their policy is to replace the entire apartments carpet so the carpets life expectancy can match. His even applies to separate bedrooms. Huh????? This is just poor management. In addition to this blatant overcharging of pet owners (we already pay a pet fee), what management also failed to do was notify me there was any stain or issue with my carpet during my pre move-out inspection. In fact, I was present for it and the maintenance tech told me everything looks great and wrote on my pre-inspection all good. They then proceeded to send me a bill after move-out for scratches to the electric stove top which existed before I moved in and was normal wear and tear. Of course they charged me for a whole new stovetop in addition to replacement of my apartments entire apartment due to one irreversible stain. I unfortunately cannot recommend Heights at Meridian due to excessive and dishonest move-out charge practices and lack of management.

Great place to live. Super convenient -- 10 minutes to downtown Durham, 15 min to Chapel Hill, and 20 min to downtown Raleigh. The staff is wonderful; they are friendly and handles any issues quickly. Facilities and grounds are well-maintained and clean. Highly recommend.

The Heights at Meridian is a great place to live. The apartments are a good value and the amenities, like the apartment homes, are both useful and well maintained. Perhaps the best asset at the Heights is the staff. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and very responsive to resident--no matter how big or small a request.
