Have never been so harassed in my life! Manager is not fair. Makes false accusations and nags about parking. No numbered spaces and tagged my van to be towed if not parked further from my apartment. Don't live here with a family and have more than 2 cars. We moved here in July 2012 at $975 rent has jumped to $1210 plus $100 for month to month. I was nice for a while but went down hill fast. We moved to Fairgate from NYC, sight-unseen since we had a tight schedule and their website looked nice enough. We moved out only 9 months into our 12 month lease because we simply couldn't stand living there any longer. The first and biggest issue was the noise. Westgate road is a throughway for a non-stop parade of dump trucks. Literally a hundred will go by your house on any given day. Having an infant, the noise was a big problem. Our next-door neighbor was almost certainly a drug dealer, which wouldn't matter except he left at all hours of the night in his incredibly loud mustang, waking the baby each time. Again, we complained to management saying we (and our baby) haven't slept in months, they did nothing except say that he's moving out in 4 months. The next issue is maintenance. Having a sliding door fall off of its hing and come within inches falling on your 6-month-old is a pretty harrowing experience. After talking to the management about this door three times, a repairman never came to fix it. We were told we could remove those doors ourselves since they tend to fall off. Our screen door broke about a two months into our lease. It took them 4 months to replace it, meaning we had to keep our back door closed for all of spring. If you have a pet they will charge you a $150 pet fee on top of the $150 pet deposit. They pocket this fee and it doesn't go towards any pet damages. You also have to pay pet rent each month. The return is a dog-poop station that's seldom emptied, to the point where people pile up the bags around the station. We've complained about that being a health hazard and the management acted surprised it was in that state, despite it being almost directly in front of the entrance to their office. The townhomes are very dark and narrow, and there is no noise insulation between the walls. The bathrooms upstairs are incredibly small, with the sinks being in a carpeted area (why?). The blinds are very cheap and will break and you will be billed. We recently got a bill for the cleanup of our apartment, which I suppose was reasonable. Being out of town on business I didn't receive the letter until two weeks after it was sent. I immediately called their office and explained I would send a check. A few days later (25 days after first letter was mailed) I was notified my account was being sent to collections. We've never been late on rent and we never had a complaint against us when we lived there. This is how much Drucker and Falk (the company who owns Fairgate) cares about its tenants. Update: Bo at Fairgate contacted me and told me my account was never sent to collections since my payment was received. That said, it still doesn't feel great to be treated like criminals after months and months of paying rent on time. For the money you can do much, much better in this area.
