All of the 5 star reviews below are lies propagated by the management and leasing office here at this community. This place is absolutely horrible, complete hell to live in.

There are Roaches and Rats! Everywhere! In your bedroom! Bathroom! Kitchen! Closest! Walls! AC! In the Fridge! Everywhere you look. The place is infested!
This location does have an exterminator that comes every month. He steps inside for less than 2 minutes and sprays a liquid poison around your apartment. The roaches then become more aggressive and grow rapidly. We have 1-2 inch long roaches terrorizing the kitchen at night. They cover almost every inch of the floor so when you walk around you can feel them crunching under your feet!
When I told the leasing office we had a rat problem they seemed unconcerned. They told me the exterminator would be by later in the week. I told them he needs to come now, I have 10+ rats running around my apartment! I made sure they called him before I left and he agreed to come out the next day. When he arrived he came inside and handed me 6 glue/sticky type traps, he did not set them up, he didnt check where the rats could be coming from and he did not check any of my neighbors for similar problems. I informed him that both of my neighbors had seen rats in there place and his response was they havent complained yet.
Since complaining of the rats the exterminator and leasing office have disposed of 0 rats! I have had to personally hunt, trap and kill over 10 rats that have been giving my son crazy fevers.
We decided to move here when my son was born so we could have a little more space for him while we worked on our finances. It was the worst mistake of my life and I feel like a bad parent for subjecting him to these aweful conditions. He is consistently getting high fevers and bug bites all over him. We have had to take him to the emergency room many times because his fever spikes uncontrollably and we couldnt find the cause. The doctors have told us the unhealthy living conditions are at the root of these issues but we are not in the financial position to break lease and move. Im worried my 10 month old son could become more ill because of how unhealthy and disgusting these apartments are.
There is mold everywhere, all thru the A/C handler and vents. They must just paint right over it when someone moves out because its all over the walls and in the cabinets. It grows rapidly and even when we bleach it comes back strong. Not 1 time has the management or maintenance come to help take care of that.
The laundry has never worked in my building or any of the adjacent buildings. I paid for a unit to be placed in my apartment for an additional $50 a month. The unit is pathetic. Holds about 4 shirts and might be the smallest laundry and dryer I have ever seen. It also makes your energy and water bill double so add another $150 to your bills just to do a couple loads of laundry every month.
The security is a waste and if anything is allowing people to steal and vandalize your belongings. My car is broken into EVERY WEEK! I just take everything out of value so that I dont have to keep replacing my windows when they break in. My cars are tortured by the local kids that must roam in the night. They go through my car taking power cords, the speakers and stereo have been stolen. Theyve even take clothes and sneakers out of my car and stolen my sons toys still in the bag left in the car overnight. You mine as well leave the doors unlocked so you dont make them work too hard because they might break something trying to get in.
I would never suggest living here to anyone!
You will get sick! They will not help! And you will be putting your family at risk moving here!

Excellent service. Beautifully kept grounds. Swimming pool, with shaded bistro seating, is well attended, even before Summer, great exercise room, with all the modern equipment seen on the latest infomercials. Apartment has Central air conditioning, which, coming from NYC, is a real luxury, as well as excellent heating, that stood the test of the recent , record setting cold weather. Nice to have an automated, washer and dryer, 24/7 in the basement! In 2 years, I have had need of about three minor repairs, since the apartment complex, is not that old at all compared to NYC apartments. Each repair was done within a half hour of calling management, and completed quickly and courteously. Nice Pewter toned fixtures, tastefully painted rooms off white with White trim, and carpeted living room and bedrooms. Huge private balcony, from the living room, with French doors. Nice calm and safe family oriented environment and a ton of parking space.

The one next door has been abandoned since before i got here. I've been going to the one two buildings down but sometimes the dryer likes to jam and take your change.

Laundry facilities are in poor conditions ( mold growth is rampant). I've included photos illustrating the condition of my apartment when I moved in. Yes, this apartment was listed as, "ready-for-tenant-to-move-in."
To the people reading the reviews, heed the problems past tenants have posted about Brentwood West. Truthfully, I do not recommend.

The location is great, its close to a lot! The rent is good for a 2 bedroom in Raleigh! But then there are a bunch of cons to this place. The playground has so much graffiti on it and it smells like urine all the time, I never take my daughter out to play. I nearly forgot we had a pool, because it seems to never be open. I can never use the laundry room on site, it always seems to be broke. I have a light fixture I had to kind of fix myself in the bathroom, because maintenance never fixed it after it leaked water and fell, putting a hole in the wall. We have security, but Im not sure what he does. The past year my car has been broken into twice and I went on vacation and came back to my car being smashed against another car. My brothers car was totaled in that incident, but management didnt care, except for one lady that I love that works there!!! She kept me informed and even followed up after it was all over! My heat kept going out all winter back to back and the real issue was never fixed. It had gotten to the point that my requests to fixed the heat would get ignored and Id have to go the weekend with no heat when it was 30 outside. Need I mind you I have a child. So of course Id have to pack up and stay with my parents until the heat was fixed. I tried to talk to management about letting me out my lease 2 months early, and that was a no go. They truly believe this place is heaven, or next to it. But this place has been a living nightmare for me and I cant wait until I move out!!! Would I recommend this place to anyone? That would be a huge NO for me! I wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy!!

This complex is by far the worse complex I have EVER lived at. I don't understand how it has more than a 1 star review. I would give it 0 stars if I could. The only good thing about this complex is the price. But it's not worth it for the headache and poor living conditions that is offered. The apartments are EXTREMELY outdated. The cabinets are falling apart. There is a HUGE roach infestation. Management claim that they have a resolution to the roach problem. They don't. They think having Hagan pest control come every once in a while is a solution. If anything it makes the problem worse. He comes and will pump a few sprays in the kitchen and leave. It makes no sense to have to inconvenience ourselves and remove everything out of the cabinets and closets. If he stays in the apartment 3 minutes when he exterminate then that's pure luck. I suffered from depression because of the infestation. Everywhere you turn, there were roaches galore. They were coming from under the walls, out the closets, the cabinets, under the sink, from the tub. They were crawling on the blinds. I would wake up to roaches above my head on the ceiling. I couldn't even enjoy watching TV without seeing a roach crawl across the screen. I ended up having to buy my own products. It helped temporarily but never for too long. I shouldn't have had to exterminate my own home. I kept everything spotless. I made sure everything was cleaned, disinfected, wiped down. No trash, dirty dishes or food laying around. It doesn't make a difference how clean your apartment is, there will be an infestation.
Amenities include a pool that was closed the entire summer last year. Management kept sending letters stating that the pool will open soon. It never did.
There is also no closet space. The bedroom closet space is taken up by a water heater. I stopped using that closet when the pipe burst and damaged my clothing.
I cannot tell you how many days I have cried and how much tears I have shed. I was never comfortable in my own home. It had gotten so bad that I had to break my lease. I couldn't tolerate it any longer. If you are reading this review and considering Brentwood West, please reconsider. I promise you that you will be miserable in this complex. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!!!
FYI: Those positive reviews that were posted, especially the ones around the same time as this one, are fake. The reviews were coincidentally posted right after I wrote this review. Anything to sucker someone into renting from this complex. Constant notices were sent out stating that the pool would be open by a certain time. Each time the deadline wasn't met, another notice was sent out and then another. The last notice stated that they were fixing an electrical issue and would be open by Memorial Day. The pool NEVER opened last summer. If they fixed the pool it sure wasn't fixed during the summer months. And I nor my former neighbors and friends ever got a history lesson on how old the apartments were. Had I been given that information, I would have not rented from here. Don't be fooled by those fake positive reviews.

I've been living at Brentwood West for going on 4 years. Now when you apply here you're actually given a little history lesson on how old the apartments are, therefore it was no surprise to me at all. I've noticed the front office does send a lot of letters to keep the residents updated, especially during the summer time when the pool was closed. Someone was digging up the ground every single day trying to get that pool fixed but they got it done. The staff is always moving with a sense of urgency, they're very interested in helping you in every way.
I'm enjoying my residency so far, plus I think I have the best natural lighting on the property:)

I live here now and honestly it's pretty horrible. We live on the bottom floor and there's a bug problem constantly. We've had the exterminator come multiple times and even moved everything in our kitchen out completely for them to come spray at one point and it's still a big problem. Something that definitely doesn't help the bug problem is that fact that there are actual holes in the wall behind the fridge and stove that no one has bothered to cover up. The counters are also poorly built with open spaces between the counter top and the wooden structure of the actual cabinets, creating an easy safe space for bugs to hide and grow. We keep our house pretty clean, no food left out, counters wiped and it's still a problem.
They built the water heater in the main bedrooms closet with no protective fencing or anything so you can't keep your clothes in the whole back half of the closet to prevent a fire hazard. Also there are tons of exposed wiring and pipes in the closet. One of the pipes burst and ruined some of our clothes and shoes, and flooded the floor of the closet about half an inch. It took them two hours to actually come and fix it after telling them how bad the issue was. They also told us a painter would come and touch up any discoloration it caused, so we waited several days to put our stuff up and no one ever came.
There is an incredibly loud nightclub right behind the building, so from Thursday-Sunday, you won't be getting much sleep. There is also a railroad right down the street so from time to time, you'll also be woken up by a train honking at 3 in the morning. To top it off, the walls and ceilings are paper thin so I can literally hear everything the people above us do everyday. Sometimes, it's so bad it sounds like they are actually in the same apartment with us.
They say they offer a gym but what it really is, is a small room with about four machines in it that haven't worked on two different occasions that I've been there, and a gym key that is shotty at best. I have tried to get into the supposedly 24/7 gym on 4 separate occasions and the key would not grant me access. I have been every time after to request a new key from the office where someone who works there will simply try it, and tell me to swipe it a specific way, which I do every time and it still doesn't work. I even sent someone else in our apartment to ask for help after it failed a fifth time, and the associate told him that it works fine but that if we want another key, we have to pay for it, even though we pay rent to include this amenity and the key they provided has been damaged since the beginning.
The people who live in the neighborhood are kind and friendly, and it's right off of capital boulevard but honestly I would discourage anyone from living here because of the horrible quality of the buildings and the awful experience I've had living here. By far, the worst place I've ever lived, and I lived in an old, busted apartment in NY for awhile.

I've been here for a year now. My lease is actually up next month and I've never been so happy in my entire life! First off this was my first apartment sad story! I was really excited to move here. I've literally cried because I had to deal with so many roaches that I never experienced before. This place is roach infested! The office staff are helpless! They exterminated every week and NOT once have it helped! I asked them if there's any options they can help me with they said no! And didn't care at all! The kitchen cabinets are falling apart! I mean literally! Very nasty cabinets! Smells like bad mildew! I couldn't even cook in my kitchen without roaches running out! The floors are VERY LOUD and SQUEaKy! The bathroom have a build in trash can which had trash that I found in once I moved in months later! They don't clean anything before you move in! When I've opened the cabinets you see that they painted over roaches instead of cleaning them

Things do not get fixed in the appropriate amount of time. You pay rent to be able to use the laundy room and when the dryer, etc gets broke it takes forever to get it fixed. The pool has been closed most of the Summer and no notification was sent out until recently. The most horrible part are the roaches. The apartments are infested!!!!!!!!!! Walls are dry rotted and not to mention the hugh mildew problem. The kitchen drawer and cabinets are falling a part. Exterminator comes out and spray and it seems the bugs get worse. I use to love living here when I first moved in and now I can not wait to move. This is one of the worst places that I have ever lived. If you want a peace of mind. Do not move here. The parking situation is all screwed up. In my opinion they really need to provide parking passes. TERRIBLE place to live!!!!!!! I wish I did not have to give any stars but at least one is required to post the comment.

I do not know where to begin. I have lived here at Brentwood West for over 5 years. The last couple of years have been a nightmare. Parking is terrible. The apartments are roach infested. No matter how much you do to get rid of them they keep coming back. The buildings are nasty. The cabinets and counters are very old. I have had my bathtub reglazed twice and the stuff still peels. I had a major mildew problem which they came out and did a horrible treatment job. Maintenance is horrible accept one guy that actually lives in my building. He is always nice and pleasant. The washing machine and dryer constantly stops working and it's like pulling teeth getting things fixed. I feel like they are not consistent and could care less about the tenants concerns. Its been two years since I lived here and I can still remember that bad experience with BED BUGS AND ROUCHES and lived in the kitchen, That bit my kids and had to throw away all my funutrie and the middle of the night that's when we realized that it was a problem with there bed bugs we were awaken by them bitten us!! And the office were liars and said they didn't have bed bugs, and they spraid the apartments every Tuesday and they still came. Some of them Neighbors were very disturbing and rude because playing loud music until 3am. My 11 year old daughter got locked in then door because it was jamed very bad she stayed there for a good hour and the stair way was always dirty and trash all over the ground. We hated living there worse apartments in Raleigh NC

I live here now and honestly it's pretty horrible. We live on the bottom floor and there's a bug problem constantly. We've had the exterminator come multiple times and even moved everything in our kitchen out completely for them to come spray at one point and it's still a big problem. Something that definitely doesn't help the bug problem is that fact that there are actual holes in the wall behind the fridge and stove that no one has bothered to cover up. The counters are also poorly built with open spaces between the counter top and the wooden structure of the actual cabinets, creating an easy safe space for bugs to hide and grow. We keep our house pretty clean, no food left out, counters wiped and it's still a problem.
They built the water heater in the main bedrooms closet with no protective fencing or anything so you can't keep your clothes in the whole back half of the closet to prevent a fire hazard. Also there are tons of exposed wiring and pipes in the closet. One of the pipes burst and ruined some of our clothes and shoes, and flooded the floor of the closet about half an inch. It took them two hours to actually come and fix it after telling them how bad the issue was. They also told us a painter would come and touch up any discoloration it caused, so we waited several days to put our stuff up and no one ever came.
There is an incredibly loud nightclub right behind the building, so from Thursday-Sunday, you won't be getting much sleep. There is also a railroad right down the street so from time to time, you'll also be woken up by a train honking at 3 in the morning. To top it off, the walls and ceilings are paper thin so I can literally hear everything the people above us do everyday. Sometimes, it's so bad it sounds like they are actually in the same apartment with us.
They say they offer a gym but what it really is, is a small room with about four machines in it that haven't worked on two different occasions that I've been there, and a gym key that is shotty at best. I have tried to get into the supposedly 24/7 gym on 4 separate occasions and the key would not grant me access. I have been every time after to request a new key from the office where someone who works there will simply try it, and tell me to swipe it a specific way, which I do every time and it still doesn't work. I even sent someone else in our apartment to ask for help after it failed a fifth time, and the associate told him that it works fine but that if we want another key, we have to pay for it, even though we pay rent to include this amenity and the key they provided has been damaged since the beginning.
The people who live in the neighborhood are kind and friendly, and it's right off of capital boulevard but honestly I would discourage anyone from living here because of the horrible quality of the buildings and the awful experience I've had living here. By far, the worst place I've ever lived, and I lived in an old, busted apartment in NY for awhile.

I actually enjoy living here. Management is amazing. They have always solved my issues in a timely manner and every time I walk into the office they are so pleasant to me. The price for rent is also a plus for me and so is the location. It always takes me just about 10 minutes to get to the mall. I truly enjoy where I live.

it is infested with roaches no matter how many times you fumigate, the floors are squeaky, the kitchen floor is slanted and they just charged a whole month when our lease ended even though we were only there for 5 days.

I rarely write a review, but in this case...I had to give a thumbs-up to the Brentwood Apartments Management crew. We certainly understand the numerous tasks the maintenance personnel is required to fulfill on a daily, monthly and yearly basis -- more importantly, whenever a tenant moves out and the time it takes our maintenance crew to turn-around an apartment for a new tenant. Sometimes a task is overlooked and that is understandable. In our case, the bathroom needed attention, management quickly jumped into action and resolved the issue.
Management, thank you for the expediency. Your attention to the matter was greatly appreciated.

I hated living here! Bugs every where. They are rude as can be. Never like to fix anything. I suggest if you have a family to raise please do not live here. Just about every day you hear gun shots there's cops out here. Apartments getting broken into. People getting rob while just getting home and getting out of there cars. Cops knocking on your door to see if u seen this person. That's crazy. I was scared to even let my son go out any time.
